PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sirus Hughes (ranked 2021 p4p, 2892 weight class) and Yellow Belt Casey (ranked 181 p4p, 248 weight class). Hughes kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Devil "Shinedown". I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Casey manages to avoid it.
Casey tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Casey misses with a straight left.
Casey bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Casey uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hughes.

A slow jab from Hughes misses its intended target.
And Casey tries to counter it with a takedown but Hughes pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hughes walks into a left hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Casey shoots in for a double leg but Hughes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hughes appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Yellow Belt Casey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Casey closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Hughes makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Casey fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hughes looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Casey looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hughes is fending him off so far but Casey persists. Nope, Hughes circles away and we're back to standing.

Casey paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Hughes is rocked!
Hughes's corner calls for a 1-2. Hughes obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Casey lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Oh Hughes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hughes drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Casey ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hughes moves away.

Casey rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hughes moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Casey fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hughes.
Hughes is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
