Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 2, fighting out of New York, Garyn Girith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marek Cervenka!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Columbo Gatti and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cervenka swings for the body but Girith moves out of range.
Girith attempts a counter takedown but Cervenka avoids it well and moves away.
Cervenka misses with a right hand
and Girith counters with a nice uppercut.
Girith looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Cervenka comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Cervenka waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Girith.
Girith appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Cervenka drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Girith takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Girith is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Cervenka working the strikes but Girith uses the opportunity to regain half guard.

Cervenka thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Girith trying to get back to full guard but Cervenka takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Girith takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Cervenka working some short elbows here. He postures up to throw some more ground and pound but Girith slips a leg through to get back to half guard. Nice work.
Cervenka thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Girith's head.
Girith tries to roll over but Cervenka keeps him under control.

Cervenka working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Girith's head.
Girith wants to sweep here but Cervenka controlling him for the moment.

Girith has his foot on Cervenka's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cervenka works his way back into a safe position though.
Girith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cervenka throws an elbow that misses. Girith uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cervenka's guard. Nice move by Girith!
Cervenka thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Girith is pushing down on Cervenka's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cervenka is fighting to maintain full guard but Girith has managed to sneak the leg through.
Girith is looking to pass Cervenka's guard but actually Cervenka recovers to full guard.

Cervenka is looking for a sweep. Girith is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Girith wants to pass to mount but Cervenka is defending the position.
Cervenka is trying to stand.
Cervenka manages to get to full guard.
Cervenka looking for a sweep. Not yet Cervenka, not yet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cervenka wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Girith manages to pass to side control.
Girith is trying to work for a kimura but Cervenka is defending well.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Cervenka jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Girith is looking to counter the offense by Cervenka and move into the clinch.
A jab from Cervenka misses.
A little feinted left hand from Girith on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Girith enables Cervenka to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Girith manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Cervenka has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Girith looking to control.
Cervenka throws a strike but Girith rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Cervenka is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Girith is pushing down on Cervenka's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cervenka is fighting to maintain full guard but Girith has managed to sneak the leg through.
Cervenka felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cervenka wants to get back to his feet but Girith is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Girith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cervenka swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Cervenka misses with a double jab
and Girith counters with a nice uppercut.
Marek Cervenka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Girith tries to sprawl but Cervenka drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Girith on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Cervenka not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Girith is looking for a sweep. Cervenka is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Girith keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Cervenka lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Girith quite badly. Girith pulls Cervenka in close trying to recover. Cervenka postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Girith on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Girith doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
