Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ameri Can (ranked 2730 p4p, 1329 weight class) and Cody Evans (ranked 238 p4p, 116 weight class). Can kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is For Heavy Metal we will die!. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 27 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Ameri Can! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cody Evans! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Evans uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Can. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Evans! But no joy. Can is looking to land body kicks. Evans tries to bum rush Can with a series of wild strikes but Can uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Can throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Evans counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Can rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Evans cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Can looks to land a left hand but Evans moved out of range nicely. Can drops his hands momentarily and Evans takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Evans bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Can's head. Can looks to throw a body kick and Evans counters with a lovely straight right hand! Ameri Can seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Evans throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Evans takes one to the chin there. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Can misses with a shot to the body and Evans counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Can misses with a looping left. A telegraphed right hand from Can misses the target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Can throws a hook but Evans avoids it easily. Evans fails to land with a series of punches.
Some bone on bone action there as Evans checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. A little jabbing left from Evans on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Evans checks a leg kick. Can just misses with a punch to the body.
Evans throws out a counter right but Can avoids it with no problem. The fighters circling - Can throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Evans lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. A looping hook to the body misses from Can. Evans does a little dance to reset his feet. Can throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Can looks to throw a body kick and Evans makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Can throws out a leg kick but Evans moves out of range and Can only half commits. Evans throws a counter combo. Can misses with a kick to the body and Evans counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Can gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Evans working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Can is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Evans landing some decent shots from guard. Evans controlling from the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. It looks like Evans might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Can is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Evans is controlling him. Evans slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Evans throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Can stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Can throws a body shot but no joy. Evans looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Can misses with a combination
and Evans counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Evans works the jab nicely. Can misses with an attempted mid kick.
A combination from Evans does no damage. Evans tries to work over Can's front leg with a kick but Can checks it. Evans scores with a hook to the body. Can takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Evans connects with a nice looking jab.
Evans jabs Can right on the nose. Can blinks but takes it well. Can closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Can is rocked! Evans connects with a body shot that sends Can's belly button to the back. Oh Can is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Evans drops Can with a huge uppercut! Can drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Evans is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cody Evans! An out of breath Cody Evans thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
