PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Long Hung Dong (ranked 735 p4p, 568 weight class) and Damian Dudley (ranked 103 p4p, 76 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Long Hung Dong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Damian Dudley!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Bruno Hogan and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dong uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Dudley.
Dong cracks Dudley with an open hand slap.
Dong has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Cannabis Fight Club in the buildup to the fight.
Dudley will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dong seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Dong misses with a body kick.
Dong misses with an uppercut. Dudley saw that one coming.
Dudley misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Dong.
Dong throws a quick counter head kick but Dudley was just out of range.

Dudley can't find room to land a body shot as Dong controls the action.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Dong.
Dong goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Dudley told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Dudley's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Dong jumps guard and drags Dudley to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Dong manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dudley manages to get himself to full guard.

Dong tries to pass the half guard into mount. Dudley knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Dong is looking for a kimura but Dudley is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dong to get the leverage.

Dong is working for an americana but Dudley has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Dong was thinking about the submission.

Dong stands and throws Dudley's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dudley can't do much from the bottom here.
Dong is looking to take a break and control but Dudley is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Dong looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Dudley tries to buck Dong off but Dong is having none of it.

Dong is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dudley is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Dudley is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Dong tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dong has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Long Hung Dong dominated that round.

Dong has closed the distance and engaged Dudley in a clinch.
Dudley blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Dong blocks an elbow strike.
Dong is trying to pull guard but Dudley has him pressed against the cage.
Dudley misses with a punch to the body.
Dong tries to pull guard but Dudley won't allow it.
Dong jumps guard but Dudley stands there with Dong around his waist. Dong gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Long Hung Dong. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dudley works on Dong's body with a couple of short punches.

Dudley digs a right hand into Dong's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Dong's gas tank.

Dong drags the fight down to the ground.
Dudley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dong. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Dudley in particular looking to stall.

Damian Dudley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Dudley throws an overhand right that lands on Dong's shoulder, as Dong tries to avoid the shot.
Dudley cracks Dong with an open hand slap.
Dudley throws a hook but Dong blocks it.
Dong looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Dudley swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Dong darts in and clinches Dudley up against the cage.
Dudley throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Dudley pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Dong tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dudley smiles and moves away.

Dong fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dudley, pushing him back against the cage.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Long Hung Dong.
I think Dong has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A determined Long Hung Dong didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
