Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mancha Aisland (ranked 744 p4p, 1120 weight class) and Lars Kay (ranked 66 p4p, 97 weight class). Lars Kay has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mancha Aisland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lars Kay!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Ben Watson and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aisland on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Kay closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kay lands in his opponent's guard.
Kay scoring with punches to the head and body.
Aisland not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kay preventing the sweep.
Aisland trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Kay throwing strikes from guard but Aisland blocks nicely.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Kay working his ground and pound in the gym.
Aisland working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kay.
Aisland definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kay trying to control but Aisland is working from the bottom.
Kay throws a strike but Aisland rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Kay wants to sweep here but Aisland controlling him for the moment.
Kay is adopting a defensive guard.
Aisland trying to control the position from guard on top but Kay is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Aisland passes Kay's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Aisland is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Kay is pressing down on Aisland's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kay tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Kay throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Aisland escapes and throws Kay's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Aisland is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kay has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kay tries to improve position but can't.
Aisland tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Kay tries to control but Aisland manages to take his back.
Kay tries to escape the position.

Kay defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Aisland's arms.

Aisland keeps control of the position as Kay tries to break free.
Aisland is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Aisland gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Aisland gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Aisland apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Aisland on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Kay connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Kay swings for the body but Aisland moves out of range.
Aisland takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Aisland shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Kay counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Aisland looking for a guillotine here but Kay defends easily.

Kay is looking to work some ground and pound but Aisland has wrist control.
Kay throws an elbow that misses. Aisland uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kay's guard. Nice move by Aisland!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kay has Aisland pulled in close to control his posture.

Kay looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Aisland passes into side control.

Aisland wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kay, who protects the arm well.
Kay can't do much from the bottom here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lars Kay will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Aisland moves out of range as Kay strikes.
Aisland has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Aisland there as he acknowledges the shot.
Kay tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Aisland was well out of range. Poor timing from Kay.

Kay dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Kay scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Aisland closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kay's guard.
Kay has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kay is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kay had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Aisland defends it easily.
Kay is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Aisland is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kay is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kay has escaped and now he's on top!


Aisland escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kay gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Kay makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Kay trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Kay sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Aisland is looking for a triangle here but Kay uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Aisland on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Kay working the ground and pound from side control.
Lars Kay has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kay throwing strikes but Aisland manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Aisland wants to control but Kay is keeping him busy.
Kay is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Kay slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Kay has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Aisland has passed into side control.
Kay is looking to regain half guard here but Aisland keeps moving and retains side control.
Kay wants to control but Aisland postures up.

Aisland is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kay knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Aisland tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Aisland has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kay trying his best to control but Aisland has mounted him.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kay is desperately trying to improve his position but Aisland has a good base and remains in mount.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Lars Kay showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Aisland looks for a takedown but Kay sprawls well.
Kay scores with the left hand. Aisland knows he should have avoided that one.
Aisland with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Kay to score with a decent uppercut.
Aisland walks into a stiff left hand from Kay.
Kay lands a nice shot to the body.
Kay paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Kay lands a nice shot that snaps Aisland's head back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aisland looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kay is fending him off so far but Aisland persists. Nope, Kay circles away and we're back to standing.
Kay connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Aisland takes a jab right on the kisser.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Good exchange - Kay coming out on top.

Donk. Kay catches Aisland right on the button with a cross.
A punch lands to the side of Aisland 's head but he takes it in his stride.
A jab from Kay finds it's way through Aisland's defenses.
Aisland takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Good standup being displayed there by Kay as he connects with a hook.
Lars Kay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aisland takes one on the button.
Aisland takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Kay moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Kay lands a nice shot that snaps Aisland's head back.
Aisland shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kay as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mancha Aisland. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kay gets caught napping as Aisland dives in and scores a takedown. Kay manages to retain guard.

Aisland is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Kay looking for a triangle here. Aisland is fighting it but it looks tight! Kay pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Aisland is tapping out - this one is all over!
