PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lindsay Apollo (ranked 200 p4p, 826 weight class) and Kastav Kvinchal (ranked 18 p4p, 59 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lindsay Apollo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kastav Kvinchal!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Apollo lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Kvinchal looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Apollo!

Kvinchal tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kvinchal has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Apollo is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kvinchal off and has taken his back!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Kvinchal unleashes a big counter combination but Apollo bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Kvinchal takes a little break here. Apollo wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kvinchal throwing strikes but Apollo manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Kvinchal has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Apollo is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Kvinchal.

Apollo is looking to take a break and control but Kvinchal is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kvinchal is trying to reverse the position but instead Apollo has taken his back - oops!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Apollo is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Apollo looks to throw the jab but Kvinchal is out of range.
Apollo punishes Kvinchal's body with a nice straight punch.
Apollo lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Kvinchal closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kvinchal lands in his opponent's guard.
Apollo pulls Kvinchal in close to prevent any damage.
Apollo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kvinchal is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Apollo feints and then cracks Kvinchal's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kvinchal down.
Horrible takedown attempt by Kvinchal or perhaps it was just good defense by Apollo, which made it look bad.

Kvinchal is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Kvinchal moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Lindsay Apollo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kvinchal shoots in looking for a takedown but Apollo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kvinchal's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Kvinchal postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Apollo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kvinchal, into his guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Apollo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
