Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shogun Silva (ranked 3457 p4p, 1113 weight class) and Jerricho Patterson (ranked 471 p4p, 170 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jerricho Patterson!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Anthony Taglia and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
It seemed like Patterson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Silva swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Silva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Patterson, pushing him back against the cage.

Patterson does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Silva tries to close the distance and clinch but Patterson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Patterson appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Silva displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Patterson throws out the jab.

The fight stays on the outside here - Silva looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Patterson in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
