Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin McGuire (ranked 620 p4p, 428 weight class) and Kim Jones (ranked 41 p4p, 26 weight class). McGuire kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kevin McGuire!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kim Jones!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Glass and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones looks to land a left hand but McGuire moved out of range nicely.
Jones tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
McGuire throws a lazy body kick
and Jones counters with a nice body shot.
McGuire tried to score with a low kick but Jones checks it.
It seemed like Jones was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
McGuire misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jones swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Jones tests McGuire's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Jones slips under a jab from McGuire.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McGuire scores with a sloppy right hand. Jones should have avoided that one.

It looks like Kim Jones has been cut.
Jones ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Jones tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McGuire was well out of range. Poor timing from Jones.

McGuire is looking to score with low kicks.
McGuire shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
McGuire just misses with a punch to the body.
A nice leg kick lands there from McGuire.
A low kick from McGuire is predictable there
and Jones counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Jones takes one to the side of the head.
Jones takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
A decent looking body kick lands there for McGuire.
McGuire thumps Jones with a low kick.
Jones punishes McGuire's body with a nice straight punch.
Kevin McGuire seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by McGuire.
Jones throws the left hand but McGuire avoids the punch easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McGuire tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

McGuire lands with a shot to the body.
Jones misses with a low kick.
McGuire connects with a solid leg kick.

McGuire connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Jones to the floor! McGuire dives in looking for the finish!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McGuire is trying to control. Jones wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Jones looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
McGuire thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jones's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGuire missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Jones wants to improve his position but McGuire is controlling well.

McGuire is working for a submission of some sort.
McGuire wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Still in half guard, McGuire seems content to control.
McGuire's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
McGuire is keen to just control but Jones is a slippery customer.

McGuire is working for a kimura here but Jones manages to reverse the position and he's now in McGuire's guard.
You can see that Jones has visibly slowed down as a result of the leg kicks
McGuire is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Kim Jones's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

McGuire looks to land a right hand but Jones moved out of range.
Jones is trying to counter with his kicks.
McGuire looks to score with a jab to the body but Jones is just out of range.
Jones throws a hook but McGuire avoids it easily.
McGuire scores with a kick to the body.
A jab lands there for McGuire.
Jones tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
McGuire misses with a lunging right hand
and Jones counters with a nice uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McGuire misses the body punch
and Jones counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Jones avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Jones looks like he wants to counter punch here.
McGuire looks for the body kick but Jones saw that one coming.

McGuire jabs Jones right on the nose. Jones blinks but takes it well.
McGuire lands a nice hook to Jones's body. Jones takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
McGuire misses with a hook. Jones ducked under it nicely.
McGuire staying out of range there.
McGuire throws a right hand that misses
and Jones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
McGuire looks to land a right hand but Jones moved out of range.
Jones looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Jones is aggressively charging in as McGuire backs up avoiding any damage. McGuire tosses out a jab and Jones runs right into it face first! Jones is out cold! McGuire dropped down on all fours and is barking in Jones's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kevin McGuire!
A relieved looking Kevin McGuire thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
