Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mantak Garuda (ranked 36 p4p, 235 weight class) and Larry Williams (ranked 6 p4p, 35 weight class). Garuda comes to the cage accompanied by Djiin Djiin. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Larry Williams!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams throws a quick inside leg kick.
Williams stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

It looks like Mantak Garuda has been cut.
Williams throws a right hand that misses
and Garuda counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Williams lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Garuda uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Williams.
Garuda misses with a left hand
and Williams counters with a nice low kick that buckles Garuda's knee momentarily.
A nice inside leg kick there by Williams. That's going to slow Garuda down.
Williams bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

and Williams takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Garuda seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Garuda sends Williams crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Garuda is motioning to the referee to let Williams up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Williams fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Garuda.
Williams lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mantak Garuda will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Williams takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Garuda.
Williams was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Garuda doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Williams in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Jeez, Mantak Garuda's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Williams cracks Garuda with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Garuda falls to his knees and Williams doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Larry Williams!
A very excited looking Larry Williams made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
