Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nori Voluspa (ranked 712 p4p, 1191 weight class) and George Pierre (ranked 95 p4p, 151 weight class). Pierre has chosen O Canada as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nori Voluspa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Pierre!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Steven Brown and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierre misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Voluspa.
Voluspa moves out of range as Pierre strikes.
Voluspa misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Pierre ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Pierre swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Pierre has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Pierre tests Voluspa's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Pierre connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Pierre keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Voluspa looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Voluspa has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Pierre after a bit of a struggle.
Voluspa is trying to drag Pierre to the mat but Pierre just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Voluspa had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pierre defends it easily.

Voluspa is looking for a triangle but Pierre pushes his legs off easily.
We've been hearing good reports from Voluspa's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Voluspa darts in looking for a takedown but Pierre gets double underhooks and turns Voluspa into the cage.

Voluspa jumps guard but Pierre stands there with Voluspa around his waist. Voluspa gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Pierre wants to stand up but Voluspa is controlling him.

George Pierre dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

A left and a right from Pierre both land. Nice combination.
A big left from Pierre misses.
Voluspa closes this distance looking for a takedown but Pierre circles away.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Pierre! But no joy.
Pierre throws a lazy right hand but Voluspa sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Pierre has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Pierre throws a punch but it's blocked by Voluspa.
Pierre digs a right hand underneath Voluspa's ribcage. Voluspa let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Voluspa has a closed guard, preventing Pierre from standing up.

Pierre wants to get back to his feet but Voluspa is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Pierre can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Voluspa controls the pace.
Pierre is looking to stand up but Voluspa isn't so interested in that idea.
Voluspa passes Pierre's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Voluspa wants to control but Pierre is keeping him busy.

I would just about give that final round to George Pierre.
I think Pierre has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
