Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bryan Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Donny Jay!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie throws a jab but it's blocked by Jay.
Jay unleashes a big counter combination but Gracie bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
A jab from Gracie misses.
Gracie throws a lazy right hand but Jay sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Jay wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Jay's coach down at LV MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Jay's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Jay bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Gracie uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jay.
Jay slaps away a takedown attempt from Gracie, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Nice defenses there by Gracie.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gracie doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Jay counters with a left and a right that stings Gracie.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bryan Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jay slips under a jab from Gracie.

Gracie throws a lazy uppercut
and Jay counters with a nice body shot.
Gracie swings widly with a right hand
and Jay counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Jab by Jay.
Gracie misses with a hook. Jay ducked under it nicely.
Gracie is looking to clinch but Jay is avoiding it.
Gracie doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Jay connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gracie ducks under a wild hook from Jay.
Jay tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gracie was well out of range. Poor timing from Jay.
Jay is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Gracie rather than just go for the knockout.
Gracie tries for a takedown but Jay circles away easily
and Jay counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

It looks like Bryan Gracie has been cut.
Gracie moves out of range of the strikes.
Gracie changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jay drops Gracie with a big left hand and mounts him. Gracie is in big trouble!

Gracie is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jay is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Oh Gracie is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Jay gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Gracie escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gracie seems to have got his legs back now.

Jay catches Gracie napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Gracie to the canvas!
Gracie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Gracie looking for a guillotine here but Jay defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jay is aware though and is defending well.
Jay is looking to stand up but Gracie won't let him.

Jay gets to his feet - Gracie follows without any prompting.
Jay throws a chopping leg kick but Gracie manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Gracie moves to clinch but Jay breaks away
and Jay counters with a straight right hand.
Bryan Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gracie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Jay counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Gracie down! Jay is looking to finish but Gracie is intelligently defending himself.

Gracie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jay doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Gracie is tightening it up a little... Jay has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Jay reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Jay taps out! Nice BJJ there by Gracie!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Bryan Gracie!
Bryan Gracie bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
