Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Ovine Thibodeaux (ranked 25516 p4p, 4041 weight class) and Kofi Akakpo (ranked 258 p4p, 185 weight class). Akakpo has chosen Destroyer as his entrance music. Kofi Akakpo told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kofi Akakpo!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akakpo throws a series of strikes that have Thibodeaux backpedaling.

Thibodeaux is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Akakpo's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

Thibodeaux clobbers Akakpo with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Akakpo catches his opponent with a big hook that sends him to the canvas! Thibodeaux stumbles back to his feet but will the referee allow it to continue? Thibodeaux walks forwards and this one will be allowed to continue! Come on!

It looks like Ovine Thibodeaux has been cut.
Thibodeaux shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

A looping hook to the body misses from Thibodeaux. Akakpo does a little dance to reset his feet.

Akakpo lands with a right, followed by a left to the temple and Thibodeaux goes down! The ref sends Akakpo to a neutral corner so he can begin the count. 3,4,5,6 and Thibodeaux is back to his feet. He seems a little groggy but the referee thinks he's OK to continue, so we're back to the action!

It looked like Thibodeaux wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Akakpo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Thibodeaux.
Akakpo shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
That kick from Thibodeaux tenderised Akakpo's leg. Akakpo is trying to keep his angry face on.
Akakpo might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Akakpo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Thibodeaux thuds his right hand into Akakpo's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Thibodeaux takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Akakpo avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Akakpo scores a flash knockdown with a right hook that drops Thibodeaux to his hands and knees! The ref pushes Akakpo away as he looks to land an illegal blow. Thibodeaux got an extra few seconds to recover there, which could have made all the differences as he stumbles back to his feet. The referee looks into his eyes and decides to allow the bout to continue. Can he survive?!

A big right followed by a crushing left from Akakpo knocks Thibodeaux out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Kofi Akakpo!
Kofi Akakpo was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
