Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex Munhoz (ranked 760 p4p, 801 weight class) and Kodiyak Redd (ranked 41 p4p, 42 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Munhoz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kodiyak Redd!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Redd closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Redd is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Munhoz works his way to full guard. Good work.
Munhoz wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Munhoz throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Redd escapes and throws Munhoz's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Redd connects with a nice short shot to Munhoz's temple.

Munhoz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Redd swivels though and keeps the full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Redd holds on and takes a little breather.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Munhoz shoots in for a double leg but Redd sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Redd counters with a stiff right hand.
Redd scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Munhoz dives in for a single leg takedown but Redd sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Redd has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Munhoz avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Munhoz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Redd gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Munhoz utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Redd slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Redd gets to mount! Munhoz was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Kodiyak Redd showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Munhoz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Our spies down at at Crapollas Gym inform us that Redd has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Redd is trying to stick to Munhoz's back but Munhoz is turning into Redd. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Redd's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Munhoz.

Kodiyak Redd comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Redd has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
