Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Richard Cheese (ranked 2546 p4p, 2644 weight class) and Cicero Verus (ranked 319 p4p, 325 weight class). Cheese comes into the arena with Rape Me blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cicero Verus!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Verus shoots in and drives through. Cheese sprawls well.
Cheese was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Cheese misses with a wild body shot.
Verus shoots in but no luck this time.
Cheese misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Verus counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Verus is trying to control. Cheese wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Verus is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cheese is just riding it out for now. Verus eventually gives up the hold.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Verus unloads with some shots from mount but Cheese bucks and avoids them well.
Cheese is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at The Hidden, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

My spies in Gold Samurai's Gym inform me that Verus has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Verus takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Verus is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Cheese is surviving well by controlling Verus's body position as best he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Verus is stalling here but it's allowed Cheese to get half guard.
Cheese has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Verus is working away from the top position though.

Verus slips a nice elbow through Cheese's hands, connecting with Cheese's forehead.
Cheese moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Cheese looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Cheese has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Verus has passed into side control.
Cheese is not content to let Verus control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Verus wants to stand but Cheese has his arm trapped.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Cheese cracks Verus with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Verus feints and as Cheese raises his hands in defense, Verus changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cheese is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cheese really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Verus is persistently looking for the submission but Cheese is defending it well.
Cheese tries to escape but he's let his defenses down in doing so and Verus has slipped in the rear naked choke! Oh, that's tiiiiiiiiight! Cheese is tapping! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
