Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Micah Murray (ranked 509 p4p, 1266 weight class) and Gianluca Alampi (ranked 52 p4p, 115 weight class). Alampi is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Requiem. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Gianluca Alampi enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Micah Murray!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gianluca Alampi!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Micheangelo Fripello and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murray missing with a left hand there. Alampi was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Alampi has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Alampi misses with a looping right.
Alampi lands a nice looking body shot.
Alampi cracks Murray with a right hand to the side of the head.
Alampi loads up on a big right hand but Murray slips the punch.
Murray misses with a hook. Alampi ducked under it nicely.
Alampi jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Murray gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Alampi gets control of Murray's arms and successfully pulls guard. Alampi will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Murray seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Alampi is controlling Murray's posture.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alampi wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Murray is now in half guard.

Murray trying to advance position but Alampi counters by regaining guard.

Alampi has a hand on Murray's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Murray takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Alampi is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Murray is staying active.
Alampi really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Murray manages to capitalize on a mistake by Alampi to take his back!
Alampi manages to reverse the position and now he's in Murray's guard. Nice work there by Alampi.
Murray wants to sweep but no luck.

Murray is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Alampi wants to control from the top but Murray keeps moving.

Alampi drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Murray dives on top into guard.

Alampi trying to keep a closed guard but Murray is proving a slippery customer.
Alampi has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Murray got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alampi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Murray has managed to get both his arms back between Alampi's legs - danger averted.

Murray seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alampi has his hands clasped together around Murray's back. He's all about the action.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Micah Murray will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Murray walks into a jab.
Alampi misses with a hook.

Alampi tries to keep at a distance but Murray has taken the fight into the clinch.
Alampi lands with a short shot to the head.
Alampi lands a shoulder strike.

Murray successfully pulls guard.
Alampi sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Murray's guard.

Alampi looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Alampi is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Murray has managed to free his arm - good work.
Alampi tries to pass the half guard into mount. Murray knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Alampi seems to be working for a kimura but Murray defends the submission attempt.
Alampi uses his free foot to push down on Murray's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Murray.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Murray gets back to half guard.
Alampi is thwarting Murray's attempts to control the position.

Alampi is trying for a kimura here. Murray looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Alampi wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Gianluca Alampi!
