PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stevo Caruga (ranked 1476 p4p, 857 weight class) and Inspektor Gee (ranked 177 p4p, 108 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 21 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Inspektor Gee!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Hugh Johnson and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gee shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

and Caruga decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gee's guard.
Caruga sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gee's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gee can do anything to dispel that myth.

Gee pushes Caruga off looking to stand but Caruga dives back in and keeps control.

Caruga's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Gee connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Caruga scrambles back to his feet.
Gee lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Gee throws a leg kick which misses Caruga's front leg but catches the back leg as Caruga tries to avoid it.

Caruga drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Caruga tries to free his leg and advance position but Gee is retaining full guard.
Gee wants to stand but Caruga is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Caruga advances to half guard.
Caruga stops Gee from getting back to his feet.
