PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Noah Ortega (ranked 2001 p4p, 1544 weight class) and Tatu Lehto (ranked 270 p4p, 209 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Noah Ortega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tatu Lehto!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortega bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Lehto's head backwards.

Ortega instigates a clinch.
Ortega blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Ortega misses with a body punch.
Lehto misses with a hook to the ribs.
Lehto tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Ortega avoids it.
Lehto throws a punch but it's blocked by Ortega.
Ortega is trying to drag Lehto to the mat but Lehto just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Ortega lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Lehto or not.

Ortega tries a body shot but Lehto blocks it.
Lehto gets underhooks to prevent Ortega's takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ortega has Lehto pushed against the cage.

Ortega turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Ortega manages to end up in side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Lehto parries the strikes from Ortega easily there. Ortega is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Lehto to escape.

Ortega tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Lehto wants to get back to his feet.
Ortega is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Lehto will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Ortega wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lehto keeps working.
Ortega has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The referee asks Ortega politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ortega prefers to stall for the moment though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ortega postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Lehto prevents Ortega from moving into mount.
Lehto is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Ortega is controlling him well.

Ortega is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lehto has escaped the position, nice work there.

Ortega wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lehto, who protects the arm well.
Lehto is trying to get back to his feet.
Ortega wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lehto keeps working.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Lehto is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Ortega asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Ortega fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lehto to the ground. Ortega is now in Lehto's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Lehto is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ortega is controlling him.
Ortega seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ortega throws an elbow that misses. Lehto uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ortega's guard. Nice move by Lehto!

Ortega pulls Lehto in close to his closed guard and prevents Lehto from doing any damage or advancing position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!

Lehto throws a hook but Ortega blocks it.
Ortega just misses with a punch to the body.
Lehto jabs Ortega right on the nose. Ortega blinks but takes it well.
Ortega works the jab nicely.
Lehto takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Lehto lands a big head kick that sends Ortega tumbling to the mat! Lehto takes a step backwards and waves Ortega back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Ortega is rocked!

It looks like Noah Ortega has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lehto throws a quick head kick that knocks Ortega silly! This fight is all over! What a finish! Lehto is up on the cage, taking in the applause from the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Tatu Lehto!
Tatu Lehto really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that FinnFighter Nutrition (Five 160Q supps!) logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
