Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Klinx Maxwell (ranked 3958 p4p, 3253 weight class) and James Diamond (ranked 466 p4p, 404 weight class). James Diamond looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Klinx Maxwell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Diamond! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maxwell closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Maxwell drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Diamond gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Diamond creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. A head punch on the inside from Diamond fails to land. Maxwell manages to pull guard.
Maxwell wants to sweep but no luck. Maxwell is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Diamond wants to control from the top but Maxwell keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Maxwell is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Diamond defends well. Maxwell has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Diamond can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maxwell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Diamond gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Diamond must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Maxwell throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Maxwell had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Diamond defends it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diamond trying to control the position from guard on top but Maxwell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Maxwell wants to sweep but no luck. Maxwell pulls Diamond in close to prevent any damage. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Diamond wants to control from the top but Maxwell keeps moving.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Maxwell instigates a clinch. Come on Maxwell - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Diamond has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Maxwell regains guard immediately.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maxwell has his hands on Diamond's head, controlling the position. Maxwell not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Maxwell is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Diamond is aware though and is defending well. Maxwell tries to land a sweep but no joy. Maxwell is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Diamond defends well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Maxwell looking for subs off his back but Diamond has passed one foot through into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Diamond seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Maxwell does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Klinx Maxwell dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Maxwell tries to close the distance and clinch but Diamond swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Diamond clinches up with Maxwell and pushes him back against the cage. Diamond managing to block the knees to the body from Maxwell.
Maxwell has Diamond pressed against the cage, preventing Diamond from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Maxwell tries to land knees in the clinch but Diamond avoids the damage to the body. Maxwell tries for a takedown. No joy.
Diamond wants to get back to striking at distance but Maxwell won't allow it.
Diamond lands on the inside with an uppercut. Maxwell softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Diamond turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Maxwell manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Maxwell keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Maxwell tries to roll over but Diamond keeps him under control. Maxwell is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Diamond pulls his head out easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maxwell is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. James Diamond has got the better of the ground game so far. Maxwell keeps control of the position for the meantime. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maxwell is not content to let Diamond control the position. Maxwell gets back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Maxwell is on top in guard.
Diamond working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Maxwell. Maxwell not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Maxwell wants to control from the top but Diamond keeps moving. Diamond has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Maxwell has passed into side control.
Maxwell wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Diamond, who protects the arm well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maxwell tries for a kimura but Diamond is defending well. Diamond parries the strikes from Maxwell easily there. Maxwell is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Diamond to escape.
Maxwell looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Diamond is not content to let Maxwell control the position. Maxwell misses with the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Maxwell tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Maxwell is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Diamond is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Diamond is looking to regain half guard here but Maxwell keeps moving and retains side control. Maxwell in side control, throwing shots but Diamond defends. Maxwell fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Maxwell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Diamond keeps working. Maxwell working the ground and pound but Diamond is defending the strikes. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Our sources have told us that Maxwell has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight. Diamond wants the takedown. Maxwell is fighting it off but Diamond persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Maxwell's guard against the cage. Diamond postures up.

Diamond works his way back into a safe position though. Maxwell looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Maxwell wants to improve his position but instead Diamond has moved into half guard.

Diamond is sitting in close to Maxwell's body. Maxwell has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Diamond is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Diamond is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Maxwell.
