Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hideki Nakamura (ranked 1121 p4p, 1330 weight class) and Nero Hardy (ranked 153 p4p, 184 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hideki Nakamura! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nero Hardy! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Phil Schofield and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nakamura gets in close and instigates a clinch. Nakamura escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nakamura ducks under a wild hook from Hardy. Hardy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nakamura to the mat! Nakamura manages to get full guard. Nakamura keeping moving, preventing Hardy from controlling successfully. Nakamura looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Hardy trying to control but Nakamura is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hardy stands and throws Nakamura's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nakamura parries the strikes from Hardy easily there. Hardy is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Nakamura to escape.
Nakamura is looking for a sweep. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hardy is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nakamura knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The referee asks Hardy politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Hardy prefers to stall for the moment though. Hardy is trying to get an arm triangle but Nakamura is defending well. Hardy remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Hardy creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Nakamura sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Hardy working the ground and pound but Nakamura is defending the strikes. Hardy tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Nakamura stops Hardy from passing to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nakamura trying to remain calm as Hardy controls from the top position. Hardy working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Hardy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nakamura keeps working. Hardy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hardy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Nakamura wants to control but Hardy postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A jab from Hardy misses. Nakamura misses with a combination
and Hardy counters with a nice uppercut. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Nakamura lands a head kick. Hardy smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Nakamura throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Hardy's head. Hardy gets cracked there but stands up to it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Nero Hardy dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Nakamura scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hardy doesn't seem bothered though. Nakamura lands a jab-cross combination. Some wild striking there from Nakamura.
Hardy tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Hardy throws a hook to the side of Nakamura's head but Nakamura sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Nakamura connects with a high kick. Nakamura avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Hardy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nakamura's waist but Nakamura gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hardy off to one side. A head kick misses from Nakamura. Nakamura will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hardy tries to keep at a distance but Nakamura has taken the fight into the clinch. Nakamura fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Nakamura breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nakamura ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hardy moves away. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hardy bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nakamura works the jab nicely. Hardy shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nakamura's guard. Nakamura wriggles free and stands up. Nakamura misses with a jab, cross combination.

Nakamura gets in close and instigates a clinch. Nakamura is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hardy can do to turn this around? This has been an exciting period of action! Nakamura breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Nakamura looks to land a combination but Hardy avoids it well. Nakamura fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hardy, pushing him back against the cage. Nakamura breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Nakamura looks to score with a jab to the body but Hardy is just out of range. Nakamura tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Hardy misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Nakamura cracks a nice hook into Hardy's ribs. Hideki Nakamura is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hardy shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Nakamura manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Hardy throwing strikes but missing. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hardy forces his way into half guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hardy lands a nice short elbow. Nakamura controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

Hideki Nakamura dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Hardy is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Nakamura gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Hardy drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Hardy tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Nakamura breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. No luck for Hardy with that takedown attempt. Hideki Nakamura has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nero Hardy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nakamura listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Nakamura displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hardy throws out the jab. Nakamura missing with a left hand there. Hardy was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Nakamura scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Nakamura pulls out of a head kick attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hardy has his takedown stuffed and Nakamura counters with a head kick. That will keep Hardy thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Nakamura lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Nakamura gets in close and instigates a clinch. Nakamura stops a takedown attempt from Hardy.

Hardy looks to land a right hand but Nakamura moved out of range. The fighters circling - Nakamura throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Hardy is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Nakamura pulls him back up using the underhooks. Nakamura working hard to break the clinch. Nakamura blocking some punches.

Hardy takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Nakamura breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nakamura lands a body shot.

Hardy darts in looking for a takedown but Nakamura gets double underhooks and turns Hardy into the cage. Hardy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nakamura's waist but Nakamura gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hardy off to one side. A little feinted left hand from Nakamura on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Nakamura gets a clinch. Nakamura can't find room to land a body shot as Hardy controls the action.
Nakamura breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nice jab there from Hardy. Hardy showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Nakamura.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nakamura clinches up with Hardy and pushes him back against the cage. Hardy has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Nakamura is trying to keep an underhook but Hardy manages to get the takedown into half guard. Nero Hardy has got the better of the ground game so far. Hardy is looking to stall here but Nakamura recovers full guard. Hardy trying to control the position from guard on top but Nakamura is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Nakamura can't keep his opponent in guard - Hardy advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Nakamura trying to control from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nakamura wants to improve his position but Hardy is controlling well.
Nakamura regains full guard. Nicely done. Nakamura has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Hardy trying to control the position from guard on top but Nakamura is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Nakamura holds on and takes a little breather.
And that's the end of the fight! Hideki Nakamura showed his dominance in that final round. I think Nakamura has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
