Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Thor White (ranked 1809 p4p, 1506 weight class) and Marcus Hughes (ranked 246 p4p, 208 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 17 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thor White! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 13 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Hughes! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Shimada and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! White connects with a body shot. White takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Hughes closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. White misses with a wild body shot. White missing with a left hand there. Hughes was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. White looks to land a left hand but Hughes moved out of range nicely. White lands with a good body shot. Hughes ducks under a wild hook from White. Hughes now looks to counter with a shot at the body. White bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hughes's head. Hughes throws an uppercut from half a mile away. White sees it coming and avoids it easily. White throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hughes stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Hughes lands a really nice looking cross but White seems unphased.
This has been an exciting period of action! White tests Hughes's chin there with a solid looking shot. A left lands for White. White throws a hook to the side of Hughes's head but Hughes sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hughes! But no joy. White throws out a loose jab but Hughes uses good head movement to avoid it. Hughes throws a jab but it's blocked by White. White was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. White connects with a single shot there.
That's one minute gone in the round. White swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
White throws a right and a left that both miss. Hughes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? White is fending him off so far but Hughes persists. Nope, White circles away and we're back to standing. Hughes takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. White just misses with a punch to the body.
White misses with a straight right. A nice side step and Hughes releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. White throws an overhand right that lands on Hughes's shoulder, as Hughes tries to avoid the shot. Thor White is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Excellent takedown into side control there by Hughes. White is looking for a sweep. White takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
White is looking to reverse the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. White is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Hughes off and has taken his back! Hughes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Hughes showing good submission defense here.

Hughes throws a looping overhand right but White ducks down to avoid it. It looked like White wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Thor White is winning the standup battle so far. White throws a right and a left that both miss. White throws a lazy right hand but Hughes sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hughes! But no joy. White lands a nice hook to Hughes's body. Hughes takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. White misses with a hook

Hughes shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hughes slips a nice elbow through White's hands, connecting with White's forehead. Marcus Hughes has got the better of the ground game so far.

He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hughes works his way back into a safe position though. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hughes lands a nice short elbow. Still in half guard, Hughes seems content to control. Hughes drops an elbow to the side of White's head. White gets full guard. White working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Hughes has passed into half guard!

Hughes is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Hughes seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but White does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. White is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hughes scores with a couple of nice shots. White looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Nice strikes from Hughes there.

Hughes looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks White with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. White looking for submissions from an awkward position here. And that is the end of the round. Marcus Hughes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! White's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round! Hughes uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from White. Hughes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has White pinned against the cage. White gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. White tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hughes was well out of range. Poor timing from White. White avoids the body shot from Hughes.

Hughes dives in for a single leg takedown but White sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Hughes bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps White's head backwards. Thor White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Good exchange - White coming out on top. White's corner calls for a 1-2. White obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Hughes works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hughes uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from White. Hughes appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Hughes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. White tries to avoid it but Hughes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag White to the ground. White escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Thor White has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Hughes. Hughes thows a left - swing and a miss! Hughes keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hughes throws an overhand right that lands on White's shoulder, as White tries to avoid the shot. White looks to land a right hand but Hughes moved out of range. Hughes throws a hook but White blocks it. Hughes cracks White with a right hand to the side of the head. Hughes connects with a body shot. Hughes might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. The crowd cheers as White lands an impressive looking overhand right. Hughes doesn't seem phased though. The fighters circling - White throws out the jab but it was never going to land. White swings and misses with a hook to the body.
White slips under a jab. Hughes throws a big shot that misses. Hughes lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. White pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Marcus Hughes. I think Hughes has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
