Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zee Land (ranked 457 p4p, 387 weight class) and Javier Arroyo (ranked 70 p4p, 59 weight class). Land comes into the arena with For Heavy Metal we will die! blaring out of the sound system. Zee Land could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Javier Arroyo's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 25 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zee Land! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 14 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Javier Arroyo! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Glass and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thud! ouch! good body kick from Arroyo - that will leave a mark!

Land shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Arroyo is looking to slow Land down with leg kicks. Land takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Land throws a body shot but no joy. Arroyo moves out of range of the strikes. Arroyo appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Arroyo smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Arroyo throws a leg kick but Land sees it coming and checks it nicely. Land walks into a left hand. Arroyo misses the jab. Land swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Arroyo misses with an attempted mid kick.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Land. Land misses with a straight right. Zee Land seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Land shoots for a double leg takedown but Arroyo sprawls well. He's pushed Land's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Arroyo fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Land misses with a hook.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice defenses there by Land. Arroyo fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Land scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The ground and pound from Land seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Arroyo parries the strikes from Land easily there. Land is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Arroyo to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Land working the strikes but Arroyo uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Arroyo regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Land. Land works a leg free and moves into half guard. Land throws a strike but Arroyo avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Land throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Land passes Arroyo's left leg - he's now in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Land thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Arroyo's head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Land looks to land a strike but Arroyo avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Land stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Arroyo has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Land manages to get his head free but now Arroyo has transitioned to an armbar! Land grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Arroyo! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
