Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ernest Graves (ranked 7 p4p, 16 weight class) and Tacitus Kilgore (ranked 1 p4p, 3 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 44 - 32 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Ernest Graves! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 37 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tacitus Kilgore! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Graves fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Graves tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kilgore was well out of range. Poor timing from Graves. Graves comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Kilgore swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kilgore ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Graves moves away. Kilgore throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Graves walks into a straight right hand from Kilgore. Graves has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Tōshi in the buildup to the fight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kilgore throws a head kick that misses. Kilgore tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Graves was well out of range. Poor timing from Kilgore. Kilgore misses the jab. Graves appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kilgore misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kilgore throws the left hand but Graves avoids the punch easily. Graves is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Kilgore ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Graves moves away. A counter left hand to the body from Graves misses its target. Kilgore changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Graves fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kilgore avoids it really well and circles away. Kilgore loads up on a big right hand but Graves slips the punch. Graves half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Graves. You can see the frustration on Kilgore's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Graves wants to control but Kilgore is keeping him busy. Graves throwing strikes but Kilgore manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Graves is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Graves is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Kilgore's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Kilgore controlling the pace. Kilgore prevents Graves from improving his position. Kilgore is looking to stall here but Graves recovers full guard. Graves lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kilgore is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Graves working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Graves throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kilgore works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Graves's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Graves pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kilgore is keeping the position for now. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Graves loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Graves postures up in Kilgore's guard and throws a big left but Kilgore blocks it. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ernest Graves will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! A big left from Kilgore misses. Graves tries to counter with a takedown but Kilgore is quick to defend against it. Graves looks to score with a jab to the body but Kilgore is just out of range. It seemed like Kilgore was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Kilgore clinches up against the cage. Graves misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Graves jumps guard and drags Kilgore to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Graves tries to land a sweep but no joy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kilgore stays in close to Graves's body and controls the position. Graves wants to sweep but no luck.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kilgore is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Graves is looking to cinch up a triangle. Kilgore throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Graves's body to avoid the submission. Graves has instead reached around Kilgore's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Graves arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Ernest Graves! Ernest Graves retains his lightweight title! After winning the bout, Ernest Graves thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
