Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bantam Rooster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lennart Hohenthal!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Hugh Johnson and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rooster shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Hohenthal moves into the clinch successfully.

Hohenthal breaks the clinch.
Hohenthal jabs Rooster right on the nose. Rooster blinks but takes it well.
Rooster lands with a shot to the body.

Hohenthal drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hohenthal pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rooster is keeping the position for now.

Rooster is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hohenthal is aware though and is defending well.

Hohenthal wants to control from the top but Rooster keeps moving.

Hohenthal seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rooster has his foot on Hohenthal's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hohenthal works his way back into a safe position though.
Hohenthal is working Rooster over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Hohenthal lands a couple of digs.
Hohenthal has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Hohenthal working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Rooster has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hohenthal can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Rooster tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hohenthal stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rooster swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hohenthal keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Rooster's head.
Hohenthal stands and throws Rooster's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Rooster gets back to half guard.
Hohenthal is trying to control the action in half guard but Rooster is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Hohenthal drops an elbow to the side of Rooster's head.
Hohenthal wants to control but Rooster is keeping him busy.
Hohenthal tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rooster knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hohenthal connects with a nice short shot to Rooster's temple.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Rooster trying to control but Hohenthal postures up.
Rooster is not content to let Hohenthal control the position.
Hohenthal scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Rooster wants to control but Hohenthal is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Hohenthal wants to pass the guard but Rooster is defending well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hohenthal drops an elbow to the side of Rooster's head.

Rooster is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hohenthal pulls his head out easily.
Rooster is trying to get back to full guard.
Hohenthal landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Rooster is rocked!
Hohenthal works his way into full mount!
Oh Rooster is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hohenthal cracks Rooster with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lennart Hohenthal!
