Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Venegas (ranked 1201 p4p, 2131 weight class) and Pablo Noriega (ranked 119 p4p, 181 weight class). Noriega is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: MS-13 Mara Salvatrucha. Pablo Noriega will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Frankie Venegas !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 39 - 28 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pablo Noriega!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Venegas misses with a takedown
and Noriega counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Venegas takes the fight into the clinch.

Venegas lands a takedown into guard.
Venegas works over Noriega with some ground and pound from guard.
Venegas pushes down on Noriega's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Noriega blocking the ground and pound attempt from Venegas .
Venegas is trying to control the action in half guard but Noriega is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We've been hearing that Venegas has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Venegas is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Venegas drops back, looking for a kneebar! Noriega looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Noriega looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Noriega!

Venegas is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Noriega is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Noriega is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Nice straight punches there by Noriega. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Noriega.
Venegas tries for a takedown but Noriega sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

and Noriega counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Venegas rushes Noriega and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Noriega escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Noriega is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Noriega lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Venegas walks into a jab.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Venegas tries to score a body lock takedown but Noriega shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Venegas gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Noriega regains guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Venegas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Venegas is pushing down on Noriega's leg trying to pass to half guard. Noriega is fighting to maintain full guard but Venegas has managed to sneak the leg through.

Venegas looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

A close round but Pablo Noriega will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Venegas tries to score a power double leg takedown but Noriega sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Venegas somewhat.

A little jabbing left from Noriega on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Frankie Venegas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Noriega uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Venegas has time to react.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pablo Noriega showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Noriega is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Venegas off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

A relieved looking Frankie Venegas thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
Pablo Noriega spoke after the fight, saying 'Don’t Worry Im Gonna Put A Hit On Him Ese'.
