Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derek Erwin (ranked 1574 p4p, 398 weight class) and Holden Gracie (ranked 64 p4p, 26 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Derek Erwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Holden Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Erwin throws a shot from downtown. Gracie moves away and avoids it.
Gracie throws a series of punches but Erwin avoids them all with ease.
Erwin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gracie lands with a kick to the temple. Erwin shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Gracie clinches.
Erwin wants the takedown. Gracie is fighting it off but Erwin persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gracie's guard against the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Erwin postures up.
Gracie is pulling down on Erwin's head. It's preventing any offense from Erwin, at least for the moment.
Erwin stays in close to Gracie's body and controls the position.

Gracie tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Gracie throws a series of punches but Erwin avoids them all with ease.
Gracie lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Erwin circles away quickly and effectively.
Erwin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We've been hearing good reports from Erwin's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Erwin's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Gracie has Erwin pulled in close to control his posture.
Erwin content to stall in guard here.

Gracie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Erwin has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Holden Gracie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Erwin takes a body punch but keeps moving.
And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Derek Erwin.
I think Erwin has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
