Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 13 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Leandro Lo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 22 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Derek Erwin! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lo walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Lo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Erwin tries to avoid it but Lo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Erwin to the ground. Erwin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Erwin instigates a clinch. Erwin has clasped his hands together around Lo's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Lo is looking for a sweep. Erwin happy to just control the position for now. Lo is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Lo's coaches at HELLCADEMY have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. Lo gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Erwin looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lo looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Erwin pushes past his half guard into mount! Erwin controlling the position easily from mount. Lo regains half guard. Erwin trying to control from half guard but Lo is working away. Lo looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Lo is looking to improve his position.
Erwin is controlling the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lo looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Lo wants to get back to full guard. Lo looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Erwin pushes past his half guard into mount! Lo stops Erwin from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Lo tries to get back to half guard but can't. Erwin sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Lo is desperately trying to improve his position but Erwin has a good base and remains in mount.
And that's the end of the fight! Derek Erwin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Erwin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
