The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Thompson cracks Shavers with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Thompson has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Shavers to stand back up!
Shavers is rocked!
It looks like Earnie Shavers has been cut.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Thompson has cracked Shavers with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Thompson lands another huge swinging hook and Shavers tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Shavers, before Thompson can land any more shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Ricky Thompson!
