Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ed Green (ranked 267 p4p, 336 weight class) and Kodiyak Redd (ranked 16 p4p, 19 weight class). Kodiyak Redd has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ed Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kodiyak Redd!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Redd does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Redd avoids the body shot from Green.

Redd closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Green to the mat! Green manages to get full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Green is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Redd felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Green seems to be working for a kimura but Redd defends the submission attempt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Redd is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Green is aware though and is defending well.

Redd is looking for a sweep. Green is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Green is trying to control the action in half guard but Redd is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Redd is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Redd has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Green is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Redd.
Green wants to control but Redd is keeping him busy.

Redd manages to work his way to half guard, despite Green's best efforts.

Redd is squirming around, avoiding Green's attempts to control the action.

Green looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Redd is controlling an arm, preventing Green from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

The fighters are battling for position here. Redd manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Redd pulls Green in close to his closed guard and prevents Green from doing any damage or advancing position.

Redd escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Green gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Green stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Redd swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Green is working hard here to advance position.

Green trying to control the position from guard on top but Redd is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Green is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Redd can do to turn this around?

Redd throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Redd is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Green misses with a hook.
Ed Green seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Green shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Redd as he jumps to the side.

Redd throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Green tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Redd is in Green's guard.

Green working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Redd doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Redd manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Redd working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Green's head.
Green is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Redd passes Green's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Green is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Redd pulls his head out easily.
Well, if Redd is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Redd postures up and lands a big shot to Green's brow.
Green working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Redd.
Redd slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Redd pushes down on Green's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Green trying to control from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Redd looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Green with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Redd seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Green does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Green makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Green.

Green is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

A close second round but Kodiyak Redd will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Redd shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Redd was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Green can't do much from the bottom here.
Green tries to buck Redd off but Redd is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ed Green overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Green uses his free foot to push down on Redd's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Redd.
Redd is desperately trying to improve his position but Green has a good base and remains in mount.
Green is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Redd is in real trouble.
Green tries to get the hooks in deep but Redd pushed the leg off.
Green keeps control of the position as Redd tries to break free.
Green is riding his opponent, not letting Redd buck him off.
