Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Iron Side (ranked 933 p4p, 1088 weight class) and Paulo Kogos (ranked 112 p4p, 131 weight class). Side kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is In the Dark - Vintage Culture, Fancy Inc . I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Paulo Kogos was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Iron Side! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 14 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Kogos! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kogos throws a predictable looking body shot
and Side counters with a straight right hand. Kogos with a nice cross. Kogos misses with a body punch
and Side counters with a right hand to the body. Kogos swings for the body but Side moves out of range.
Kogos jabs Side to the body, keeping him at a distance. Kogos tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Kogos wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Kogos smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. The fighters circle momentarily. Kogos darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Side swinging wildly here.
Side scores with a jab to the body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kogos looks to score with a jab to the body but Side is just out of range.

It looks like Paulo Kogos has been cut. Side cracks Kogos with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Side has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Kogos to stand back up! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kogos fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Side ducks under a wild hook from Kogos. Kogos lands a body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Kogos cracks Side with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Paulo Kogos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Side looks to land a right hand but Kogos moved out of range. Kogos is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Kogos throws a series of punches but Side avoids them all with ease. Side avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Side defending well as Kogos loads up on a big left hand. It looked like Side was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Kogos lands a nice hook to Side's body. Side takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Kogos avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Nice uppercut lands for Kogos. That snapped Side's head back.
Side is rocked! Kogos lands a brutal uppercut that launches Side off his feet! Side tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Paulo Kogos! A determined Paulo Kogos didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it! The defeated Iron Side had this to say: 'I'll back and knock him out!'.
