Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tacitus Kilgore (ranked 20 p4p, 71 weight class) and Ernest Graves (ranked 3 p4p, 11 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 39 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tacitus Kilgore!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 46 - 34 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Ernest Graves!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Graves throws a body punch but Kilgore moves out of range.
Graves throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Graves throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kilgore looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Nice body punch from Graves.
Graves throws a body punch but Kilgore moves out of range.
Graves throws a looping overhand right but Kilgore ducks down to avoid it.
Kilgore moves into range and connects with a jab.

It looks like Ernest Graves has been cut.
Graves has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Kilgore throws a big shot that misses.
Kilgore takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Graves wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Graves looks to score with a jab to the body but Kilgore is just out of range.
Graves swings for the body but Kilgore moves out of range.

Graves closes the distance and pushes Kilgore back into the cage.
Graves has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kilgore avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Kilgore breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Tacitus Kilgore is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kilgore chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Graves is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Kilgore rather than just go for the knockout.
Graves doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Graves shoots in looking for a takedown. Kilgore tries to sprawl out of it but Graves keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kilgore manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Graves dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Graves takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Graves misses with a jab to the body
letting Kilgore counter with a right hand.
Kilgore needs to keep his hands up - Graves had a free shot at his head there.
Graves throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Kilgore throws an off balance right hand
and Graves counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nice uppercut lands for Graves. That snapped Kilgore's head back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kilgore feints and then cracks Graves's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Graves down.
Graves changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Kilgore misses the shot to the body.
Kilgore gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Graves.
Ernest Graves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kilgore scores with a nice head shot.

Kilgore sends Graves crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Kilgore is motioning to the referee to let Graves up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Graves is rocked!
A telegraphed right hand from Kilgore misses the target.
Graves is still on wobbly legs! Can Kilgore finish him?
A head kick by Kilgore - that's a beauty! Graves is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Kilgore can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Tacitus Kilgore!
Tacitus Kilgore retains his lightweight title!
A relieved looking Tacitus Kilgore thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
