Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcel Romanow!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Nard Betker and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romanow throws a jab when Babel was well out of range.

Babel clinches up with Romanow and pushes him back against the cage.
Babel jumps guard but Romanow turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Romanow goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Babel tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Romanow just stands there and leans against the cage.
Babel takes a shot to the head.
Romanow is working Babel over against the cage.
Romanow throws a punch but it's blocked by Babel.
Babel has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Romanow lands with a light punch inside.
Babel is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Romanow to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nino Babel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Romanow tries to work over Babel's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Babel blocks an uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Babel tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Romanow smiles and moves away.

Romanow throws an overhand right that lands on Babel's shoulder, as Babel tries to avoid the shot.
Marcel Romanow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Romanow missing with a left hand there. Babel was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Babel shoots in for a takedown but Romanow shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Romanow paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Nice shot lands for Romanow.
Romanow connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

It looks like Nino Babel has been cut.
Romanow connects with the punch.
Romanow throws a body punch but Babel moves out of range.
Romanow throws a lazy right hand but Babel sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Romanow jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Babel closes the distance and clinches up with Romanow, looking for a takedown. Babel pushes Romanow against the cage but Romanow circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Romanow drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Babel defends it well.
Babel is looking to clinch but Romanow is avoiding it.
Romanow misses with an uppercut. Babel saw that one coming.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Babel avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Babel changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Babel takes one on the chin but seems OK.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Babel connects with a jab.

Babel drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Romanow gets back to half guard.

Romanow is defending against the submission attempts here by Babel.
Romanow is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Babel's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Babel's back!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Babel just trying to survive but Romanow is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Romanow lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
Romanow is landing big shots and Babel is squirming looking to escape! He can't escape though and the ref jumps in to end the fight!
