Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Thor White (ranked 1155 p4p, 1585 weight class) and Ilya Kushnirov (ranked 149 p4p, 197 weight class). Thor White has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thor White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ilya Kushnirov!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from White misses.
White misses with a body shot.
White clobbers Kushnirov with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
White takes one to the chin there.
Kushnirov digs a good body shot into White's ribs.
White avoids the head kick by Kushnirov.
White throws a lazy right hand but Kushnirov sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
White is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Kushnirov.

White fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kushnirov avoids it really well and circles away.
White takes one to the chin there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kushnirov felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

White is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

White seems to be looking for submissions.

White will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

White seems to be working for a kimura but Kushnirov defends the submission attempt.

White is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kushnirov defends it well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

White is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Kushnirov as he works his way to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kushnirov is looking to stand up but White isn't so interested in that idea.

White drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kushnirov manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now White has Kushnirov in his guard.


White is looking for a triangle but Kushnirov pushes his legs off easily.

White drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

White avoids the body shot from Kushnirov.

White throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

White throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Kushnirov on the side of the head.

Kushnirov lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as White backs up against the cage.

White shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kushnirov pinned against the cage. Kushnirov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

White throws a looping overhand right but Kushnirov ducks down to avoid it.

Ilya Kushnirov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

White lands with a hook. Kushnirov tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
White throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kushnirov sees it coming and avoids it easily.

It looks like Thor White has been cut.

Kushnirov tries to bum rush White with a series of wild strikes but White uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Ilya Kushnirov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kushnirov dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on White. That did some damage!

White lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Kushnirov feints a jab promting White to slip. Kushnirov then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. White slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Well Kushnirov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
