Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Diddy (ranked 2106 p4p, 4523 weight class) and Fabio Fortuna (ranked 276 p4p, 508 weight class). Diddy comes to the cage accompanied by lvl99ROIDMAGE. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Diddy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabio Fortuna! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diddy shoots in for a takedown but Fortuna shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Diddy just misses with a punch to the body.
Diddy shoots in looking for a takedown. Fortuna tries to sprawl out of it but Diddy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fortuna manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Diddy shoots in but Fortuna avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Diddy. That's going to take a lot out of him. Diddy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Diddy misses with a looping left. Fortuna throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Diddy tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fortuna sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Diddy somewhat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diddy slips a jab from Fortuna. Diddy fails with the takedown. Diddy moves forwards but Fortuna connects with a nice, crisp jab. Diddy loads up on a big right hand but Fortuna slips the punch. Fabio Fortuna is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diddy lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Diddy steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Fortuna. Diddy misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Diddy closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Fortuna's guard. Diddy won't allow Fortuna to get back to his feet. Diddy looking to pass the guard. Diddy stands and throws Fortuna's legs to the side, diving into side control. Diddy creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Diddy is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Fortuna is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. An elbow from Diddy crashes against the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diddy tries for a kimura but Fortuna is defending well. Diddy fails to land a wild elbow strike.
This has been an exciting period of action! Diddy working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Diddy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fortuna keeps working. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fortuna can do anything to dispel that myth. Diddy is really struggling to control Fortuna but he's trying to hold on to the position. Diddy has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Fortuna! Fortuna blocking the ground and pound. Fortuna is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Fortuna really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diddy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Fortuna wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Diddy.
Fortuna is squirming around, avoiding Diddy's attempts to control the action.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diddy controlling from mount. Diddy is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Fortuna is surviving well by controlling Diddy's body position as best he can. Fortuna avoids a series of strikes thrown by Diddy.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Diddy cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Diddy wants to control the pace but Fortuna is squirming around nicely. Diddy has control of Fortuna's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Fortuna regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Diddy connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diddy is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Fortuna to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Fortuna shrugs it off. Diddy looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Diddy looking to isolate an arm here. Fortuna doesn't see it coming and as Diddy extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Diddy!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Joe Diddy! A very excited looking Joe Diddy made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
