Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Miller (ranked 2215 p4p, 2369 weight class) and John McCoy (ranked 281 p4p, 298 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joshua Miller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, John McCoy! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Alyssa Summers and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Miller lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Joshua Miller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Miller lands a nice shot to the body.
Miller missing with a left hand there. McCoy was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Miller blocks a jab. McCoy on the wrong end of a nice hook. McCoy fails to land with a series of punches.
Miller throws a big counter combination but McCoy scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. McCoy slips a jab from Miller. McCoy throws a lazy uppercut
and McCoy takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. McCoy's coach down at Mike Jones MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on McCoy's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. McCoy slips a jab from Miller. Miller looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Miller bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Miller throws a big counter combination but McCoy scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. A combination from Miller does no damage. Danga de danga de dang - McCoy scores with a four punch combination! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Miller throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. A swing and a miss from Miller. Miller jabs McCoy right on the nose. McCoy blinks but takes it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miller swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by McCoy. McCoy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Miller paws at him with a jab and circles away. McCoy takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Miller throws a big shot that misses. McCoy steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Miller. McCoy misses with a wild combination.
Miller lands a right hook to the body.

McCoy swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Miller lands a nice shot to the body.
Miller cracks McCoy with an open hand slap.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McCoy with a nice cross. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Miller looks to throw the jab but McCoy is out of range. Some wild striking there from Miller.
McCoy lands with an overhand left. McCoy gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. McCoy fails in his attempt to clinch. McCoy has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Miller finds it's way round the side to connect with McCoy's head. Miller moves out of range of the strikes. Miller throws a jab when McCoy was well out of range. McCoy misses with a looping right. Miller connects with the punch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McCoy takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Miller misses with a right hand and McCoy cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Miller misses with an uppercut. McCoy rushes Miller and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Miller breaks from the clinch.
McCoy slips under a jab. Miller swings for the body but McCoy moves out of range.
Miller cracks McCoy with a right hand to the side of the head. Miller fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. McCoy looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Miller slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Miller is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Miller connects with a body shot that sends McCoy's belly button to the back. Miller shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. McCoy eats them both and turns towards Miller to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
McCoy is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Miller cracks McCoy with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends McCoy tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Miller pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! McCoy is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joshua Miller! After the fight, Joshua Miller was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
