Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Ferriera (ranked 1344 p4p, 1910 weight class) and Drake Jones (ranked 119 p4p, 171 weight class). Drake Jones has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Ferriera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Drake Jones!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Chad Campbell and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Jones as Ferriera shoots in.
Jones throws a jab but it's blocked by Ferriera.

Jones clinches.
Jones tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Ferriera's elbow.
Jones displaying some good clinch control by pressing Ferriera up against the cage.
Jones controlling the action here for a moment.
The crowd are getting on Jones's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ferriera misses with a punch to the body.
Ferriera definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Jones has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Ferriera is trying to keep an underhook but Jones manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Jones is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Ferriera tries to get to full guard but Jones has control of the leg.

Jones seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Ferriera regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Jones.

Jones keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ferriera's head.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Ferriera looks to land a left hand but Jones moved out of range nicely.

Jones looks to land a right hand but Ferriera moved out of range.
Jones throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Some bone on bone action there as Ferriera checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Jones ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Jones tries to score with a low kick but Ferriera moves his leg out of the way.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Ferriera jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Jones slips under a jab.
Ferriera shoots for a double leg takedown but Jones sprawls well. He's pushed Ferriera's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodrigo Ferriera. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jones uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ferriera has time to react.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jones throws a big right hand that misses.
Jones has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Drake Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Ferriera's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Jones throws a lazy right hand but Ferriera sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ferriera attempts a counter takedown but Jones avoids it well and moves away.
Ferriera defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jones.

Jones closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jones lands in his opponent's guard.

Ferriera has his foot on Jones's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jones works his way back into a safe position though.
Jones is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jones's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Jones postures up and lands a big shot to Ferriera's brow.
Ferriera is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Ferriera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Rodrigo Ferriera has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Ferriera is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jones is aware though and is defending well.
Ferriera has momentary wrist control but Jones slips an elbow through the middle.
Jones won't allow Ferriera to sweep him here.
Jones lands a couple of digs.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Ferriera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones cracks Ferriera with a solid left hand.

Drake Jones has got the better of the ground game so far.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Ferriera misses with an uppercut.
Ferriera shoots in looking for a takedown but Jones manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ferriera's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Jones throws a leg kick that is checked

so Ferriera counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Jones holds on and takes a little breather.
Jones wants to control but Ferriera passes easily into half guard.
Ferriera is keen to just control but Jones is a slippery customer.

Jones is looking for a sweep. Ferriera is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ferriera perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Drake Jones is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Ferriera is looking to advance position but Jones won't allow it.

Ferriera is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jones wants to control but Ferriera is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rodrigo Ferriera.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
