PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between InSaen Chai (ranked 1592 p4p, 689 weight class) and Miet Cleever (ranked 245 p4p, 103 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Miet Cleever!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Viktor Lagutenko and Valeri Chadov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cleever scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Cleever keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Chai.
Cleever looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Chai lands a head shot.
Chai jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Chai throws a jab when Cleever was well out of range.
Cleever falls off balance throwing a combination
and Chai counters with a stiff right hand.
Chai connects with a right hand. Cleever shakes it off.

It looks like Miet Cleever has been cut.
Chai loads up on a big right hand but Cleever slips the punch.
A solid leg kick lands there for Chai.
Chai looks to throw the jab but Cleever is out of range.
Chai lands a glancing blow to the side of Cleever's head.
Chai stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Cleever.
Chai misses with an uppercut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Cleever rushes Chai and presses him up against the cage.
Cleever prevents Chai from breaking the clinch.
Cleever has Chai pressed against the cage, preventing Chai from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Chai blocks a punch to the side of the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Good body shot from Cleever.

Chai breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cleever lands with a nice body punch.
Cleever throws a one two combo.
Chai throws a hook to the side of Cleever's head but Cleever sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Cleever doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Cleever moves into range and clinches up with Chai.
Cleever lands a hook that snaps the head of Chai backwards.
Cleever working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

Chai pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Chai throws a leg kick that is checked

and Cleever counters with a nice right hand that sends Chai toppling to the canvas! Chai scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Cleever finish him?!
We've been told by Chai's head coaches at Shinobi Martial Arts & Ninjutsu that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The fighters circling - Chai throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Cleever fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Chai uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cleever.
Chai scoring well with a low kick there.
Chai throws a leg kick but Cleever checks it.
Cleever takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Cleever keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Chai.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Cleever cracks Chai with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Chai looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Cleever finish him?

Chai is rocked!
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Cleever engages and cracks Chai with a massive lead left hook - Chai tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Cleever is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Miet Cleever!
