PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clarence Hoost (ranked 4 p4p, 42 weight class) and Charon Lehto (ranked 1 p4p, 6 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Charon Lehto was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Clarence Hoost!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Charon Lehto!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Lehto swings away with a body shot that misses
and Hoost counters with a stiff right hand.
Lehto is looking to land body kicks.
Lehto attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Hoost swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Lehto misses with a low kick.
Lehto fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hoost manages to avoid it.
And Hoost counters with a quick kick to the body but Lehto blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lehto throws an overhand right that lands on Hoost's shoulder, as Hoost tries to avoid the shot.
Lehto swings for the body but Hoost moves out of range.

A looping hook to the body misses from Lehto. Hoost does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hoost has been working on his boxing with his coaches at BRAZILIAN TOP TEAM in the buildup to the fight.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

It looks like Clarence Hoost has been cut.
Hoost slips a jab from Lehto.
Hoost seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Lehto chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Lehto throws the kick towards the body but Hoost avoids it.
Hoost uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lehto.
And Hoost counters with a quick kick to the body but Lehto blocks it.

As Lehto backs away, Hoost returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Lehto ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Lehto throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Hoost counters with a head kick that drops Lehto to the mat! Lehto scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Charon Lehto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It looked like Hoost wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Lehto is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Hoost rather than just go for the knockout.
Hoost steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lehto.

A little feinted left hand from Hoost on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Lehto looks to score with a jab to the body but Hoost is just out of range.
Hoost throws a quick counter head kick but Lehto was just out of range.
Hoost keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hoost is looking to counter with head kicks.
Lehto waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hoost.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hoost takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

and Lehto takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Charon Lehto will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

After winning the bout, Clarence Hoost thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
