Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lars Kay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Merel!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kay takes a shot to the body in his stride.
A slow jab from Kay misses its intended target.
Merel throws a right hand that misses
and Kay connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Merel throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Merel defending well as Kay loads up on a big left hand.
Merel throws a big shot that misses.
Merel throws a looping overhand right but Kay ducks down to avoid it.
Merel throws a body shot but no joy.
Kay cracks Merel with a right hand to the side of the head.
Kay takes a swing at Merel's ribcage but misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kay drops his hands momentarily and Merel takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Kay shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Kay connects with a good right hand that stumbles Merel. Merel circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

and Kay counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Merel misses with an uppercut. Kay saw that one coming.

Kay lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Kay slips under a jab from Merel.
Merel has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

A little feinted left hand from Kay on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Merel throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

It looks like Kay has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.

It looked like Kay was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Merel.
Kay connects with a body shot that sends Merel's belly button to the back.

and Kay counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kay lands an overhand right.
Kay steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Merel.

Kay uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Merel.
Merel throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Kay cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Merel rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Kay counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Kay moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Anthony Merel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Merel throws a body shot but no joy.

enabling Kay to counter with a crisp jab.
Merel uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kay.
Kay works the jab nicely.
Merel is still on wobbly legs! Can Kay finish him?
Kay avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

and Kay counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Kay ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Merel's jaw. Merel's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Kay does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Lars Kay!
Lars Kay decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
