PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bofur Widenose (ranked 217 p4p, 478 weight class) and Boyko Kersikov (ranked 32 p4p, 63 weight class). Kersikov is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Sefa - God's Plan. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bofur Widenose!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Boyko Kersikov!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Kersikov leaves Widenose with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kersikov swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Widenose has Kersikov up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Widenose tries to score a body lock takedown but Kersikov shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Kersikov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Widenose takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Widenose shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kersikov sprawls well. Kersikov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Widenose gets slowly back to his feet.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kersikov! But no joy.

It seemed like Kersikov was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Horrible takedown attempt by Widenose or perhaps it was just good defense by Kersikov, which made it look bad.

Widenose tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kersikov swats him away and circles back towards the center.

A little jabbing left from Kersikov on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Widenose closes the distance and clinches up with Kersikov, looking for a takedown. Widenose pushes Kersikov against the cage but Kersikov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Widenose shoots in but no luck this time.

A little jabbing left from Kersikov on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

enabling Kersikov to counter with a crisp jab.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Kersikov displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Widenose.
Widenose shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kersikov but Kersikov pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kersikov has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Kersikov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kersikov looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Kersikov has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Widenose doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kersikov counters with a stiff right hand.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kersikov keeps the fight on the outside.
Kersikov takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Widenose throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

It seemed like Kersikov was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Boyko Kersikov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Widenose closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Widenose swings around for an armbar but Kersikov sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Widenose's guard.

Kersikov is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Kersikov stands and steps away. Widenose gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

and Kersikov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Widenose doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kersikov counters with a nice leg kick.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Widenose tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kersikov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Widenose somewhat.
Kersikov looks like he wants to counter punch here.

I would just about give that final round to Boyko Kersikov.
I've got Kersikov winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
