Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 22 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Matthew Quigley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 25 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Carlos Gomez! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Wagner Zegers and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quigley misses with an uppercut. Gomez saw that one coming. Gomez throws a combination that misses and Quigley counters with a straight right hand. Gomez throws a right and a left that both miss. Quigley was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Gomez throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Quigley stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Gomez jabs at Quigley's body. Quigley uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gomez. It looked like Quigley wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. A shot to the liver by Gomez. Beautiful body shot. Gomez throws a solid leg kick but Quigley takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Gomez. A slow jab from Quigley misses its intended target. Quigley throws out a loose jab but Gomez uses good head movement to avoid it. Quigley pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Quigley throws a poor cross that misses
and Gomez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Quigley definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Jab, jab by Gomez - just one landing. Carlos Gomez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Quigley throws a right and a left that Gomez avoids nicely. Quigley ducks under a wild hook from Gomez. A quick step to the side and Quigley tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Gomez getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gomez takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Gomez scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Quigley doesn't seem bothered though. Quigley fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Quigley blocks a jab. Quigley blocks a jab. Gomez throws a leg kick that is checked and Quigley cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
It looks like Carlos Gomez has been cut. Quigley missing with a left hand there. Gomez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Gomez staying out of range there. Gomez fails to land with a series of punches.
Gomez throws the kick towards the body but Quigley avoids it. Gomez lands a nice hook to Quigley's body. Quigley takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Quigley misses with a looping left. Gomez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gomez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Quigley moves away. Gomez tries a head kick but it misses.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A jab from Quigley does it's job there. Gomez misses with a combination
and Quigley counters with a crisp right hand that drops Gomez! Quigley lets Gomez back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Gomez is rocked! A low kick from Gomez misses and Quigley counters with a right hand from hell and Gomez is out cold! A vicious knockout!
