Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Quigley (ranked 663 p4p, 2049 weight class) and Jet Gunner (ranked 100 p4p, 305 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 23 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Matthew Quigley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 21 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jet Gunner! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gunner rushes Quigley and presses him up against the cage. Quigley avoids the elbow strike from Gunner, against the cage.
Quigley tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Gunner's elbow. Quigley lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. I was talking to Quigley's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Gunner throws an elbow but it misses.

Gunner lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Quigley or not. Gunner pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Gunner just misses with a elbow thrown towards Quigley's brow. Gunner told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight. Gunner lands with a short shot to the head. Gunner is trying to trip Quigley. He has hold of a leg but Quigley is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Gunner persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Quigley wants to get back to his feet but Gunner passes into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gunner stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gunner passes to full mount! Quigley tries to reverse the position but Gunner maintains control. Gunner lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Gunner thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Gunner misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Gunner throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Gunner trying to control but he's not successful this time. Quigley is bucking up trying to escape but Gunner cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Gunner tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Gunner wants to control the pace but Quigley is squirming around nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gunner controlling from the full mount. Quigley is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Gunner controlling the position easily from mount. It looks like Gunner might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Gunner lands a big shot there that rocks Quigley but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Quigley is trying to stand. Gunner trying to control but he's not successful this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gunner scoring with strikes but Quigley is staying in there. Gunner lands with some strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gunner wants to control but instead Quigley manages to regain half guard. Gunner is trying to control the action in half guard but Quigley is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Gunner wants to pass to mount but Quigley is defending the position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jet Gunner dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Gunner misses with a head kick.
Quigley seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Gunner throws an overhand right that lands on Quigley's shoulder, as Quigley tries to avoid the shot. Gunner throws a head kick that half lands.
Quigley throws a body shot but no joy. Quigley lands with a cross. Quigley missing with a left hand there. Gunner was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Excellent takedown into side control there by Gunner. Gunner tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Gunner has knee on belly and moves into mount. Quigley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gunner on the ground. Quigley is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Quigley regains half guard. Gunner trying to control the action but Quigley is working from the bottom. Gunner sitting and controlling from the half guard. Gunner is pressing down on Quigley's thigh, looking to free his foot. Quigley is holding on for now. Quigley is defending against the submission attempts here by Gunner.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Gunner missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Gunner thows a huge punch but Quigley dodges it nicely.
Gunner moves into full mount! Quigley won't be happy about that! Gunner scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Gunner lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gunner breaks from Quigley's wrist control and lands an elbow. Gunner controlling the pace for now. Gunner punching from mount but Quigley doing a good job of avoiding damage. Quigley holds on, trying desperately to control. Gunner trying to control but Quigley is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gunner has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Gunner controlling the position easily from mount. Gunner trying to control but Quigley is having none of it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gunner looking for a guillotine from mount but Quigley is having none of it. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jet Gunner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round! A slow jab from Quigley misses its intended target. Gunner scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Gunner lands an overhand right. Matthew Quigley is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Gunner scores with a three punch combo!
A big left from Quigley misses. Gunner lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. A big right from Gunner misses. Gunner is looking to clinch but Quigley is avoiding it.
Gunner has his takedown stuffed and Gunner takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Gunner tries to clinch but fails miserably and Quigley counters with a right hand to the body. Gunner drives through and clinches with Quigley against the cage.

This has been an exciting period of action! Gunner is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Nice body punch from Quigley.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gunner goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Quigley has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Gunner but great work by Quigley. Quigley throwing shots but missing, from side control. Quigley is looking to take a break and control but Gunner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Gunner pushes Quigley away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Quigley gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Gunner is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Gunner is not content to let Quigley control the position. Gunner is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Quigley asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Quigley stands up and we're back to a striking position. Quigley gets tackled into the cage by Gunner. Gunner maintains the clinch. Quigley misses with a punch to the body.
Quigley throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Gunners head. Gunner lands an elbow inside. Quigley wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Gunner prevents a body shot from Quigley. Gunner creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Quigley's defenses. Gunner is working Quigley over against the cage. A battle for position here, against the cage. Quigley is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. A head punch blocked on the inside by Gunner. Jet Gunner is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Jet Gunner. Well Gunner has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
