Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lyman Hicks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brandon Rose! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Lou da Vinci and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hicks cracks Rose with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Hicks throws out a loose jab but Rose uses good head movement to avoid it. Rose swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Hicks throws a shot to the body.
Rose throws an off balance right hand
and Hicks counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Hicks connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Hicks dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Hicks seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Hicks lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Rose at a distance.
Rose gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Hicks. Hicks lands a jab. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hicks moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Hicks scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Hicks misses with an uppercut
and Rose counters with a stiff right hand. Hicks scores with a shot to the body.
Hicks's corner calls for a 1-2. Hicks obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Rose missing with a left hand there. Hicks was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hicks lands with a right hand. Hicks misses with a wild combination.
As Hicks backs off Rose throws a huge counter combo but Hicks manages to avoid it all. Rose jabbing away but nothing is landing. Hicks appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Rose keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hicks throws a right hand that Rose ducks under and follows up with a left that Rose also avoids with ease. Rose swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hicks throws the left hand but Rose avoids the punch easily. Hicks throws a predictable looking body shot
enabling Rose to counter with a crisp jab. A big right from Hicks misses. Rose swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Hicks dips to his left and cracks Rose with an uppercut! Hicks lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Rose is rocked! Hicks connects with a nice cross there... Rose is looking wobbly and Hicks recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Rose to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Hicks jumps onto the cage to celebrate with the crowd!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Lyman Hicks! Lyman Hicks took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
