Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dusty Rhodes (ranked 644 p4p, 845 weight class) and Roland Weudke (ranked 85 p4p, 109 weight class). Rhodes comes to the cage accompanied by Bury My Bones. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dusty Rhodes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 38 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roland Weudke! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rhodes connects with a body shot that sends Weudke's belly button to the back. Weudke takes a jab right on the kisser.
Rhodes lands a nice hook to Weudke's body. Weudke takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Weudke slips under a jab from Rhodes. As Rhodes backs off Weudke throws a huge counter combo but Rhodes manages to avoid it all. Rhodes throws a right hand that Weudke ducks under and follows up with a left that Weudke also avoids with ease. Decent striking displayed by Rhodes there. Rhodes lands a slapping body shot.
Rhodes walks into a left hand.
It looks like Dusty Rhodes has been cut. Dusty Rhodes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rhodes lands a jab to the nose. Weudke moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rhodes lands a nice shot to the body.
Rhodes closes the distance and lands a one-two. Rhodes comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Weudke on the wrong end of a nice jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rhodes has managed to clinch.
Rhodes lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Weudke or not. Rhodes keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Weudke's efforts to push away. Weudke escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rhodes with a jab. Rhodes lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Weudke takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Rhodes lands a glancing blow to the side of Weudke's head. Rhodes lands with a shot to the body. Rhodes lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Rhodes dips down and scores with a jab to the body. A cross from Rhodes lands. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Weudke avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Weudke lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rhodes's corner calls for a 1-2. Rhodes obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. It looks like Rhodes has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. Rhodes scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Rhodes has managed to clinch.
Weudke misses with a body punch.
Weudke escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rhodes scores with a nice strike. Rhodes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Rhodes throws a big right hand that misses. Rhodes throwing strikes from guard but Weudke blocks nicely. Rhodes throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Rhodes sitting in guard here, content to control. Rhodes stopping the sweep attempt from Weudke.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rhodes is working Weudke over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Rhodes's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Weudke utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Weudke can't keep his opponent in guard - Rhodes advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Rhodes trying to control the action but Weudke is working from the bottom. Rhodes is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Weudke has managed to free his arm - good work. Rhodes is working for a submission of some sort.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rhodes looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Rhodes wants to take a breather but Weudke is having none of it. Rhodes is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Rhodes tries to pass to full mount but Weudke defends it. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Dusty Rhodes dominated that round. The cut man is working on Dusty Rhodes's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Rhodes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Rhodes with a poor takedown and Weudke connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Rhodes gets a takedown into half guard. Weudke wants to get back to full guard but Rhodes has mounted him! Weudke is desperately trying to improve his position but Rhodes has a good base and remains in mount. Rhodes content just to control the position here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rhodes thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Rhodes goes for an armbar but Weudke turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Weudke. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rhodes looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Weudke passes into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rhodes is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Weudke's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Rhodes trying to control from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rhodes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Dusty Rhodes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rhodes is trying to maintain the position but Weudke is very close to passing his half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Rhodes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Rhodes is staying active underneath Weudke, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Weudke performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Rhodes wants to improve his position but Weudke is controlling well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Weudke wants to advance to full mount but Rhodes doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Rhodes keeping moving, preventing Weudke from controlling successfully. Weudke passes Rhodes's left leg - he's now in half guard. Rhodes wants to get back to full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Rhodes makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rhodes. Weudke is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rhodes tries to bum rush Weudke with a series of wild strikes but Weudke uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Weudke throws a sloppy head kick and Rhodes moves out of range easily. Rhodes pushing out the jab but it's not landing. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Dusty Rhodes will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Dusty Rhodes's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round! Weudke throws a hook but Rhodes avoids it easily. Rhodes swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Rhodes missing with a left hand there. Weudke was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Rhodes looking to score a takedown here. Weudke is defending well but Rhodes drives through and ends up in Weudke's guard. Weudke looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Rhodes throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Weudke works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Rhodes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Weudke swivels though and keeps the full guard. Rhodes postures up in Weudke's guard and throws a big left but Weudke blocks it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rhodes throws an elbow that misses. Weudke uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rhodes's guard. Nice move by Weudke! Rhodes looking to hit a scissor sweep but Weudke is one step ahead there.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Weudke content to control rather than advance. Rhodes wants to control but Weudke passes into side.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Rhodes is not content to let Weudke control the position. Rhodes wants to control but Weudke postures up. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Rhodes tries to improve position but can't. Weudke working away.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A looping hook to the body misses from Rhodes. Weudke does a little dance to reset his feet. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Weudke! But no joy. Rhodes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Weudke sees that one coming and sprawls well. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. A cross from Rhodes lands. Rhodes misses with a double jab.
Weudke throws a counter combo. Rhodes throws a body punch but Weudke moves out of range. Weudke looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Rhodes lands with a cross. Rhodes lands with a nice body punch. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Nice jab there from Rhodes. Rhodes lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Weudke uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rhodes.
And that's the end of the fight! Dusty Rhodes showed his dominance in that final round. Well Rhodes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
