Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Aonghus Mormaer (ranked 1637 p4p, 1141 weight class) and Roland Weudke (ranked 193 p4p, 142 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Aonghus Mormaer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 38 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roland Weudke!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Weudke misses with a right hand
and Weudke takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

It looks like Roland Weudke has been cut.
Mormaer swings and misses with a hook to the body.
It seemed like Weudke was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Mormaer misses with a straight right.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Weudke! But no joy.
Mormaer scores with a jab. Weudke acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

It seemed like Weudke was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Weudke tries to keep at a distance but Mormaer has taken the fight into the clinch.

Mormaer tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Weudke manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A little jabbing left from Weudke on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Mormaer lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Mormaer scores with a head kick. Weudke tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

enabling Weudke to counter with a crisp jab.

Weudke throws an overhand right that lands on Mormaer's shoulder, as Mormaer tries to avoid the shot.
Mormaer ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Mormaer throws a head kick but Weudke moves out of range.
Weudke misses with a hook
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Mormaer looks to land a left hand but Weudke moved out of range nicely.
Mormaer takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Mormaer avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Mormaer connects with a solid leg kick.
Mormaer misses with a lunging right hand
and Weudke cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Weudke lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mormaer circles away quickly and effectively.
A little feinted left hand from Mormaer on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mormaer pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Weudke looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Weudke needs to keep his hands up - Mormaer had a free shot at his head there.

and Mormaer cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Mormaer thuds his right hand into Weudke's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

The cut above Roland Weudke's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Mormaer throws a poor cross that misses
enabling Weudke to counter with a crisp jab.
Mormaer is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Weudke can do to turn this around?

Mormaer rushes Weudke and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
I was talking to Mormaer's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Mormaer scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Aonghus Mormaer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mormaer tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Weudke paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Mormaer throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Weudke throws out a counter right but Mormaer avoids it with no problem.
Some bone on bone action there as Weudke checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Weudke swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
We've been informed that Weudke has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Mormaer is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Roland Weudke's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Roland Weudke's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
