Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mate Orsic (ranked 350 p4p, 436 weight class) and Damian Tonon (ranked 54 p4p, 67 weight class). Orsic comes to the cage accompanied by KRS One - Rappaz R. N. Dainja. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 12 - 1, fighting out of New York, Mate Orsic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damian Tonon!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Orsic scores with a punch to the head.
Orsic lands a two punch combo.
No joy there for Orsic, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Orsic punishes Tonon's body with a nice straight punch.
Orsic ducks under a wild hook from Tonon.
Tonon misses with an uppercut. Orsic saw that one coming.
Tonon has his takedown stuffed
letting Orsic counter with a right hand.
Damian Tonon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tonon misses the shot to the body.
Nice sprawl there from Tonon as Orsic shoots in.
Tonon shoots in looking for a takedown but Orsic manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Tonon's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Orsic uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tonon.
Tonon closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Orsic's guard.

Orsic looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tonon is one step ahead there.
Tonon wants to control from the top but Orsic keeps moving.

Orsic has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tonon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Tonon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Orsic swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Orsic is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Tonon's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Tonon's back!
Orsic lands a shot to the head.
Tonon wants to control his opponent's hands but Orsic gets his hands free.

Orsic is working the ground and pound. Can Tonon escape?
Tonon manages to reverse the position and now he's in Orsic's guard. Nice work there by Tonon.

Orsic seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Tonon might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Orsic haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Orsic has an active guard here but Tonon has managed to pass into half guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Mate Orsic will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Tonon goes for a double leg but Orsic avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Orsic continues to drive forward.

Mate Orsic is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Tonon throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Orsic was covering up waiting for the punch and Tonon finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Orsic is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Orsic controls Tonon momentarily but Tonon frees himself.
Tonon is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Orsic has his foot on Tonon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tonon works his way back into a safe position though.

My spies in Gym inform me that Tonon has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Tonon throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Orsic tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Tonon is in Orsic's guard.
Orsic bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tonon's guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Tonon lands with an overhand left.
Tonon shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Orsic as he avoids it easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tonon is defended easily by Orsic.
Mate Orsic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damian Tonon.
Orsic steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Tonon.
Left hook, right uppercut from Orsic.
A jab from Tonon finds it's way through Orsic's defenses.
Tonon misses with a takedown attempt
and Orsic counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Tonon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

and Tonon takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Orsic bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Tonon's head backwards.
Orsic takes a swing at Tonon's ribcage but misses.
Orsic takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mate Orsic.
I think Orsic has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
