Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Keisuke Matsuzaka (ranked 30 p4p, 397 weight class) and Andor Seres (ranked 5 p4p, 59 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 40 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Keisuke Matsuzaka! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 28 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andor Seres! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matsuzaka connects with a leg kick. Seres misses with a hook. Matsuzaka is looking to clinch but Seres is avoiding it.
Seres swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Matsuzaka blocks a jab. Matsuzaka looks to land a left hand but Seres moved out of range nicely. Matsuzaka blocks a jab. Andor Seres seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Matsuzaka tries to clinch but Seres moves out of range. Matsuzaka throws a body punch but Seres moves out of range. Seres looks like he wants to counter punch here. Matsuzaka has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Matsuzaka there as he acknowledges the shot. Matsuzaka staying out of range there. Seres attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Seres throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. The fight moves into the clinch position. Seres throws a punch but it's blocked by Matsuzaka. Seres jumps guard but Matsuzaka turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Matsuzaka. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Matsuzaka.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matsuzaka blocking some punches.
Seres throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Matsuzakas head. Seres tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Matsuzaka prevents a body shot from Seres. Matsuzaka softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Matsuzaka misses with a hook to the ribs.
I was talking to Matsuzaka's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Seres has a couple of punches blocked by Matsuzaka.
Matsuzaka misses with a hook from the clinch. Matsuzaka struggles to land a body shot inside as Seres controls his hands.
Matsuzaka tries to stall but Seres uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Matsuzaka lands a nice uppercut. Good body shot from Matsuzaka.
Matsuzaka lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Seres backwards. Seres misses with the head strike.
Matsuzaka makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Matsuzaka as Seres tries to tie him up. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Seres decides to pull guard. Matsuzaka throwing strikes from guard but Seres blocks nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Seres is trying to keep Matsuzaka in close.
Seres is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Matsuzaka knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Seres on the ground. Matsuzaka slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Matsuzaka pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Seres is keeping the position for now. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Matsuzaka not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Matsuzaka tries to clinch up. Seres throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Seres takes one to the side of the head.
Seres doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Seres slips under a jab. Matsuzaka is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Seres tries to score a power double leg takedown but Matsuzaka sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Seres somewhat. Seres shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Keisuke Matsuzaka has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andor Seres. Matsuzaka throws a lazy right hand but Seres sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Matsuzaka fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Matsuzaka fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Seres. Seres misses with a lunging right hand
enabling Matsuzaka to counter with a crisp jab. Matsuzaka paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Matsuzaka throws a head kick that half lands.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Matsuzaka tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Seres manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Seres on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Seres takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Keisuke Matsuzaka is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Matsuzaka with a nice cross. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. and Matsuzaka counters with a straight right hand. Matsuzaka just misses with a punch to the body.
No joy there for Seres, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Seres needs to keep his hands up - Matsuzaka had a free shot at his head there. Seres keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Seres takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Keisuke Matsuzaka is winning the standup battle so far. Nice uppercut lands for Matsuzaka. That snapped Seres's head back.
Matsuzaka slips a jab from Seres. Matsuzaka throws a series of punches but Seres avoids them all with ease. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Matsuzaka misses with a wild body shot. Seres swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Seres uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Matsuzaka has time to react. Matsuzaka uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Seres.
Matsuzaka throws a lazy right hand but Seres sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Matsuzaka has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Seres finds it's way round the side to connect with Matsuzaka's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matsuzaka closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Matsuzaka fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Seres looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Seres takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Seres fails with the takedown. As Seres tries to get set, Matsuzaka tries to push him back and clinch up but Seres manages to avoid the attempt. Seres scores with a jab. Matsuzaka uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Seres. Matsuzaka is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Seres. Matsuzaka is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Seres can do to turn this around? Seres misses with a hook. A punch lands to the side of Matsuzaka 's head but he takes it in his stride. Seres connects with an inside leg kick. Matsuzaka misses with a looping right. A little jabbing left from Seres on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. The fight moves into the clinch position. Matsuzaka leaning against his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Matsuzaka scores with a hook to the body. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Matsuzaka lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Matsuzaka throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Matsuzaka's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Matsuzaka lands an elbow inside that Seres shrugs off. Keisuke Matsuzaka has scored more points in the clinch so far. Seres lands a hook to the side of the head. Matsuzaka works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Seres swings wildly with an uppercut but Matsuzaka uses good head movement to avoid it. Matsuzaka lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. A nice right hand lands inside from Matsuzaka. Matsuzaka lands with a left to the head. Matsuzaka lands a left hand that snaps the head of Seres backwards. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Matsuzaka lands with a short punch from the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Matsuzaka pushes Seres back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Seres is still on wobbly legs! Can Matsuzaka finish him? Matsuzaka scores with a nice hook to the head. A nice right hand lands inside from Matsuzaka. Matsuzaka lands a nice elbow. Matsuzaka digs a right hand into Seres's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Seres's gas tank. Matsuzaka pushes Seres back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Matsuzaka lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Seres. Matsuzaka scores with a hook to the body. Matsuzaka lands a nice elbow.
It looks like Andor Seres has been cut. Matsuzaka creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Seres's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Seres drops to his knees and Matsuzaka pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Keisuke Matsuzaka! After the fight, Keisuke Matsuzaka was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
