The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sam swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Diesel scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
We've been hearing reports that Sam has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

It looks like Sambo Sam has been cut.

Sam tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Diesel is pressed up against the cage. Sam has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Diesel down to the mat. Diesel avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Sam is breathing heavily.
Diesel blocking some punches.
Sam is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Sam wants to get back to striking at distance but Diesel won't allow it.

Kloockz Diesel dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Sambo Sam's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Sam shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Diesel as he avoids it easily.
Kloockz Diesel seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Sam feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Let's hope that Diesel has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

No joy there for Sam, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
