Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Richard Mesquita (ranked 97 p4p, 188 weight class) and Hugo Loris (ranked 13 p4p, 24 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Hugo Loris was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richard Mesquita!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Hugo Loris!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Sam Margolis and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Mesquita.
Loris ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mesquita moves away.
Loris's corner calls for a 1-2. Loris obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Loris throws a hook but Mesquita avoids it easily.
Mesquita looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Hugo Loris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mesquita fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Loris to the ground. Mesquita is now in Loris's guard.
Loris controls Mesquita momentarily but Mesquita frees himself.
Mesquita is looking to work some ground and pound but Loris has wrist control.
Mesquita scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Mesquita missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Loris preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Mesquita works over Loris with some ground and pound from guard.
Loris is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mesquita defends well.
Loris wants to sweep but no luck.
Loris lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
I've been told that Loris has been drilling his wrestling of late, which has already helped him take this fight to the mat. Let's see how much of an impact it has on the outcome of the ground game.

Mesquita working for a triangle but Loris defends it easily.
Mesquita is looking for a triangle but Loris pushes his legs off easily.
Loris stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mesquita swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mesquita looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Loris stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mesquita swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Loris passes Mesquita's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Loris wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mesquita keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mesquita gets full guard.
Loris controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Mesquita is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Loris wants to control but Mesquita is keeping busy.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mesquita lands a nice short elbow.
Mesquita has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Loris tries to get to full guard but Mesquita has control of the leg.
Mesquita frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Mesquita with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Loris tries to hold on but Mesquita pushes him away.

Loris can't escape the position.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Mesquita cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Mesquita has control of Loris's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Loris regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Loris tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mesquita avoids the attempt from Loris to control.
Mesquita lands a heavy elbow.
Mesquita scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Mesquita fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Mesquita postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Loris looks a forlorn figure.
Mesquita controlling the pace for now.
Loris is trying desperately to improve position.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Loris is bucking up trying to escape but Mesquita cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
A nice elbow there by Mesquita.
Loris is rocked!
Mesquita connects with a bit shot that sees Loris covering up! More strikes from Mesquita and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Mesquita is our winner by TKO!
