Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sparring John (ranked 1457 p4p, 619 weight class) and Suutari Nuorempi (ranked 230 p4p, 99 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sparring John! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Suutari Nuorempi! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Chad Campbell and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! John throws a hook but Nuorempi blocks it. John throws a hook but Nuorempi blocks it. Nuorempi ducks down and throws a hook to the body but John moves away. John looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. John scores with a decent looking hook. John throws a body shot but no joy. Nuorempi is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. A nice combination there by John.

Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nuorempi works on John's body with a couple of short punches. Nuorempi lands a body shot in the clinch.

John tries to work over Nuorempi's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Nuorempi has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. John seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Nuorempi can turn it around. Nuorempi lands a nice shot to the body. Nuorempi digs a right hand underneath John's ribcage. John let out a lung full of air as it connected. This has been an exciting period of action! Nuorempi lands a hook to the side of the head. Nuorempi lands a body shot in the clinch.

Nuorempi lands a nice shot to the body. John is fighting off a takedown attempt but Nuorempi is just too persistent for him and manages to trip John to the mat. John regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Nuorempi advances to half guard. Nuorempi seems to be working for a kimura but John defends the submission attempt. John is defending against the submission attempts here by Nuorempi.
Nuorempi passes the guard and advances to mount! John is working to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nuorempi looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Nuorempi is working for a guillotine from mount but John frees his head quite easily.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Nuorempi controlling the pace for now. Nuorempi throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Nuorempi with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Suutari Nuorempi dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Nuorempi lands a jab. Nuorempi keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from John. Nuorempi feints the counter takedown. Nuorempi lands with a hook. John tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. John lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Nuorempi misses with a straight right. Sparring John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nuorempi connects with the punch. John takes one on the chin but seems OK.
John throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nuorempi. Nuorempi swings for the body but John moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nuorempi connects with a good right hand that stumbles John. John circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Nuorempi darts in and clinches John up against the cage. Nuorempi is leaning against John and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A left hand lands to the body for Nuorempi.
Suutari Nuorempi seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. John wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Nuorempi has him pressed against the cage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Nuorempi throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Johns head.

John is rocked! John's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Oh John is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! A right hook to the body lands for Nuorempi.
Nuorempi is working John over against the cage. A short uppercut from Nuorempi. Nuorempi has dropped down and is working for a takedown. John is trying to keep an underhook but Nuorempi manages to get the takedown into half guard. Nuorempi content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nuorempi has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. John seems to have got his legs back now. Nuorempi wants to control the pace but John is squirming around nicely. Nuorempi tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. John holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Nuorempi tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Nuorempi looking to control but John is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Nuorempi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nuorempi is stalling here but it's allowed John to get half guard.
Nuorempi passes to side control. Nuorempi is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt John will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Nuorempi wants to lay and pray for a moment but John keeps working. Nuorempi slows the pace down. Nuorempi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Suutari Nuorempi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round! A big left from John misses. And Nuorempi tries to counter it with a takedown but John pushes his down on his head and steps out. John loads up on a big right hand but Nuorempi slips the punch. John takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Nuorempi fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with John, pushing him back against the cage. Nuorempi fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

John blocks a body shot from Nuorempi. Nuorempi tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. John breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nuorempi gets the takedown into side control. John trying to remain calm as Nuorempi controls from the top position. John is not content to let Nuorempi control the position. Nuorempi remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nuorempi is continuing to stall. John is pushing Nuorempi's head away, looking to escape. Nuorempi manages to hold on to the position though. Nuorempi controls the position. The ground and pound from Nuorempi seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. John is not content to let Nuorempi control the position. Nuorempi tries to advance to mount but John denies him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. John is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Nuorempi is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Nuorempi looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Nuorempi controlling his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Poor strikes thrown by Nuorempi there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Nuorempi thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Nuorempi wants to take a breather but John is having none of it. Nuorempi keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Sparring John has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nuorempi missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Nuorempi thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Nuorempi lands strikes from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Nuorempi wants to free his trapped foot but John is holding on for dear life with his legs. John is trying to get back to full guard. Nuorempi wants to lay and pray for a moment but John keeps working. John won't allow Nuorempi to pass to mount. Nuorempi seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but John does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Nuorempi is taking a breather. John says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! John looks to land a combination but Nuorempi avoids it well. John lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nuorempi circles away quickly and effectively. And Nuorempi tries to counter it with a takedown but John pushes his down on his head and steps out. Sparring John is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. John jabbing away but nothing is landing.
And that's the end of the fight! Suutari Nuorempi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Nuorempi winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
