Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 19 - 0, fighting out of London, Wille Thai!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chad Bartz!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bartz throws a right hand that misses

and Thai counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Thai looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Thai is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Thai looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Thai is working for a kimura but Bartz is defending it quite comfortably.
Bartz wants to get back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thai wants to advance to full mount but Bartz doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Thai tries to free his leg and advance position but Bartz is retaining full guard.
Thai passes Bartz's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Thai is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bartz is just riding it out for now. Thai eventually gives up the hold.

Thai is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bartz has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Thai is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bartz sees it coming and defends easily.

Thai is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Thai is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bartz defends it well.

Thai is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Thai trying to mount his opponent but Bartz defends it.

Thai is trying to work for a kimura but Bartz is defending well.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bartz is defending against the submission attempts here by Thai.
Thai is pressing down on Bartz's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bartz is holding on for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Thai is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bartz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Bartz is defending against the submission attempts here by Thai.
Thai is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Thai looking to pass the guard.
Thai is looking to advance position but Bartz has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Wille Thai dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Thai takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Bartz lands with a nice body punch.
Thai misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Bartz looks to land a left hand but Thai moved out of range nicely.
Thai lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bartz throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Thai stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Bartz connects with a solid leg kick.
Bartz scores with a punch to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thai keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Thai walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Thai takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Good exchange - Bartz coming out on top.
Bartz lands with a nice combination. Thai backs away looking to recover.

It looks like Wille Thai has been cut.
Donk. Bartz catches Thai right on the button with a cross.
Thai changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bartz tries to avoid it but Thai manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bartz to the ground. Bartz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bartz doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Thai takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Bartz throws a solid leg kick but Thai takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Bartz.
Thai changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Thai shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Bartz makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wille Thai. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Some wild striking there from Bartz.
Bartz throws a poor cross that misses

and Thai counters with a takedown into side control.

Thai thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Bartz can't do much from the bottom here.

Thai is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bartz has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bartz is trying to get back to half guard.

Thai tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Thai has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Thai tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Thai goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Bartz rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Thai's guard! Nice work there by Bartz!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bartz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Bartz is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Thai has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Bartz is looking to defend but Thai has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Bartz! Thai pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Bartz taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Wille Thai!
Wille Thai is the new light heavyweight champion!
